Climbing the Cone

With only a couple hundred feet of climbing between you and the summit of Mt. Shasta, the view is becoming tremendous as you look down upon the green low lands that surround the mountain. At over 14,000 feet snow fields last year round, with rock and skree alike frequently frozen solid. A full shell and plenty of PolarTec insulation are required items in your inventory even during summer months when the temperature may be in the 90's down in the valley, yet well below zero at the summit. This view looks west where you can see the rocky Castle Crags to the left and the City of Mt. Shasta near center. [Climb On]
