Susan and Johnny

Of course, the member of the Fantastic Four that Sue has known the longest would be her brother Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. They were both born to Franklin and Mary Storm and raised in a relatively stable home environment as young children. When Johnny was nine, their mother died in a car accident. Somewhere around six or seven years later, their father, a medical doctor, was jailed for illegal practices. Johnny drew on Sue's strength to get through that tough period of their lives.

In fact, Johnny was fortunate enough to be able to stay with Sue when she departed for California to follow Reed back to Central City. Johnny is approximately four to five years Sue's junior, making his current age around twenty-six, approximately equal to that of Spider-Man.

Johnny's happy-go-lucky attitude was fostered under Sue's care. As a teenager, Johnny had plenty of time to work on his favorite hobby, cars, and chase after girls, with whom he's always been popular. Today, he and his sister remain close although she usually turns to her husband Reed for comfort or advice before anyone else.

The story of Dr. Franklin Storm is revealed in Fantastic Four #31 and #32. At the end of this story, Dr. Storm dies a hero, saving his children from the Super-Skrull after having adopted the identity of the Invincible Man.
