| Oct22. 0900...thank geezus it's Friday. I think I acomplished so much this week I might explode...hehe..not really...I guess my list was just shy of saving the planet and bringing peace to the world. (Another big Joke) I'm just KIDdin--nah, really I've had two tests that flustered me. One was Cognitive Psych, mon, and the other was this morning, Bio Lab. Boy was it a toughie...I got home yesterday and slept from 5-9ish for my 4-5hrs, and stayed up all night studying. (intermittently between listening to Cat Stevens and a variety of other procrastinative behaviors b/c the coffee finally got to me around 3:30 am and I needed to dispel some n-ergy.) Is DISPEL a word? Well, it sounds good anyway. Yesterday I turned in the damaged book I'd checked out from the library. I felt so dumb for that flub. I could kick myself from here to next week for being so stupid as to put my almost empty coffee mug in my bookbag and thinking SOMETHING wouldn't happen to knock my bag over...despite my efforts to keep it upright. And it was a Botany book...I mean, if it was psychology I might think "oh well, I got me another psych book" but no, how to identify plants. The nerve. Maybe they'll feel sorry for me and not charge me for it. Hehe. This weekend Rob and I are going to the REM concert. I went last year, and this year seems a little redundant because we all know the saying...if you've seen em once, you 've seen em a thousand times (tho there are many versions of that saying). But I decided to go b/c Rob wanted to and it sounded like fun--one of my best friends, and one of my almost-favorite bands... and I kindof like some of their new songs- Sunday I'm headed to Columbus to tutor and to pick up some Lentil burgers from my wonderful mom. If you've never hand my moms lentil burgers, then you're missin out on some burger eatin fun I'm tellin ya. Whew. Welp, that's about it fer today folks (haha, "folks", like anyone reads this...oh wait...HELLO to mike and rob, my loyal readers) Love y'all.--Peace out. |

| Oct19. This morning I was approached by the speaker of the bugs for basement level department of 2005 ponce de leon...big surprise it was a beetle...anyway, he informed me of a petition the bugs in "our" apartment, as he put it, have gathered together to fight my unjust squashing of bugs. I told him that when I first moved in I left them alone thinking they would stay away while I was around, but that they kept coming when I was there and I couldn't put up with it anymore. He said if I was truly as fair minded as I say I am that I would treat all bugs equally..."equally to HUMANS?" I asked, astonished...he gave me an affirmative indication, but also added that I never kill the moths, only the beetles, roaches, and spiders. "Can you blame me? Youre everywhere!" Well, I was put in my place. First off, referring to them as all "bugs" is stereotypical. Geez. So we agreed that I will say "arachnids" when talking about spiders, and "insects" or "flying insects" when referring to the others. Picky picky. Anyway, I asked the speaker, who himself was a water beetle common to the basement level, if I could please see his leader....he said no, that only a few insects and arachnids saw the leader, but I have reason to believe their leader lives somewhere behind the couch on the patio of Level 1, and is most likely a spider, but who's probably pretty nice. OK, so we finally came to a consensus. To be fair, I will attempt to educate myself on how to decipher arachnids who are the "bad guys" like the black widow I killed last week (which I was commended for doing, seems he was an evil bastard) and the brown recluse (tougher...they're evil bastards too, but they appear similar a lot of other brown spiders), and that any roachs caught in or near my food supply could be squashed b/c they know better than to get caught-- and he agreed to inform the citizens of his phylum that while I am in the room, it would be best to stay out of my sight, but in the event that I DO see them (like the dumb ones who come charging at me across the floor) I will practice fair and just removal tactics. I'm a little ticked that I have to stop squashing so many of the grandaddy long-legs b/c they propigate like freakin rabbits, if not more, but I guess I'm willing to seek a way to bring peace among us all at 2005 Ponce. We'll see how it goes. Anyway, school today was good. I realized I was dehydrated after the first 15mins of my first class and so I got some water and have been attempting to get in my daily dose before tonight. I never drink enough water, it's really bad, I know. Speaking of, it's raining outside, and my water resistant parka finally gave in to the soaking, but it's ok--My main concern is keeping my eyes safe from potentially being poked out by the crazed umbrella weilding city-goers, who represent about 50% of the downtown pedestrial crowd. Fun. And I wore flip flops today, so I've been careful decending the stairs...we had another spill on the 2nd floor of General Classroom around 2:15pm, but no injuries, just a dirty notebook and some extreme blushing by the guy who stumbled. I sparked a conversation after class with a guy wearing a 24 HOURS OF ADRENALINE t-shirt. He rides a hard tail too, a friendly crosscountry folk we are, and may have given me the best reasoning yet for some-day investing in a light kit for my bike. And his name is Bill...too often I carry on a 20min conversation with someone and never catch their name, so I practice introducing myself at least before parting. Some may say, "what's in a name?" but I think it might make people feel good, and only because it does to me, but I'm not trying to be narcissistic, I'm relying on my knowledge of interpersonal behavior...ta da. Now I'm goin home Ciao! P.S. I got the idea of this new page design from Rob, who now has a BLOG! I will put his link on my "links" page, but you can click HERE to go there now. Peace-out. |
