Aug17--Tuesday...hmm...ok, I definintly forgot I had a heap of picturess on my own digital camera from the snowshoe trip...they are now up with the rest of the yahoo pics and I watched a mountain bike dvd (mostly freeride stuff) yesterday that was utterly inspirational...man, those guys are B.A.
My beauty queen cat is highly jealous of me paying more attention to the pc screen than her right now so this entry is becoming increasingly difficult...
ok all in all I guess that despite being incredibly frenzied, the summer was a good one. I met a lot of new people, traveled a good bit, got a ton of riding time in (still not enough), and learned a massive amount of new stuff...both at ga state and at the school of hard knocks, but I realize academics and hard knocks tend to go hand in hand on occasion--
I'm leaving for Houston tomorrow with Gray...maybe do some road riding (if my bike is fixed...currently has a loose bearing in the rear hub which really blows), and I think we're heading to Galviston beach (sp?) for a day...that'd be fine with me, I'm suffering withdrawal from lack of ultra violent radiation so I hope it's sunny...sometimes think I'm part plant, part human--  a true flower child after all
Aug14 Thankfully this year "Friday the 13th" didn't bring me any bad juju...and I'm glad this site isn't frequented by many  so no one noticed I totally misspelled Buddha in my last entry...bad thing was I spelled it right the first time I typed it, then went back and changed it to "buddah"...what was I thinking...I could have gone and gotten myself a dose of karma there...whew...(hehe)
mmkay...my website will probably lag after school starts so I figured I can try to enter something almost daily until then...supposedly these journal things are supposed to improve self-awareness...we'll see-
The Snowshoe pics probably aren't gonna make it...we've tried, most of them are 10-15sec. video clips so they would have taken us into the next ice age just loading them in here...just not meant to be...(can you FEEL the disappointment?!) Zach and his dad left Ga this morning after a night of food, spirits, and storytelling at their home in Manchester, about 30mins from C-town. It was a good time, really cool people. I also met a cat who is part Ocelot (I believe)...he is a little bigger than your average tabby and has the markings of his wild brothers...qiute a beautiful creature.
Stefan is leaving for Mercer tomorrow, and I hope to get myself up to Atl and check out some apartments I found online...Georgia State is dragging their feet a little too slow on the campus apartment thing so mom and I decided to begin the search for a dwelling spot...oh well (I can't imagine me with 3 roomies anyway..yeesh)
I'm definitly taking my mountain bike with me...I've gone too long without riding...like, since Monday...goodness! some Olympic trail torture could be in store for me yet...I hope-
Another friend and I are heading to Houston, TX on the 18th to visit Mike, who seems to be enjoying himself for the most part...we were hoping to have time to drive on to New Mex and see the Fosters living there, but that's a dang long drive and school starts for us on the 23rd. Plus Papa is having another hip surgery on the 27th so I doubt Jackie and Rick would be home (ElPaso)...I'll most likely be heading to SC that weekend too.
The weather is still nice and coolish...a pleasant side-effect of Hurricane Charley, unfortunately at the expense of our Floridian neighbors. We didn't have much rain at all, just a brief flash-flood on Tuesday that swamped the streets of Columbus and was gone as fast at it arrived.
ok, have I written enough for today? I think so-
Aug12,2004-this is just a posted gloat...got my grades for the summer and found I passed Research Methods with a C...THANK BUDDHA! woo hoo.. now, I know a C isn't especially good, but this is an exception to that rule of mine--.that was absolutely THE MOST DIFFICULT CLASS I've had in psychology...behind me now..relief...got A's in the other 3 classes...yay :)
theres a
new quote on that page of words and Tsali pics are up on their very own page--ok I'm out
August 11, 2004--slow day in Columbus...hurricanes in Florida are supposedly responsible for the overcast skies here...hope those nasty weather systems don't hit our lovely southeastern flamingo lovin peninsula too hard-
the weekend was fun...reasonable amount of riding, saw the fam, got some sunshine...pretty good-Tsali was nice, makes me want to go back--pics from there will be posted soon
The summer has flown by at an alarming rate...school was tough, and my breaks between spring and fall have been jampacked with traveling here and there riding, hiking, socializing...I'm worn out! Pondering how to take a good break before fall semester begins...still have to find another place to live in Atl, and school starts on the 23rd...so I'll probably head back to SC for more than a few days to regroup and spend some soulhealing time in the upstate and mountains-Hope everyone has a great summer
Saturday
a small err in communication, I'm headed to Tsali tonight, riding tomorrow, and hanging with the fam till Tuesday...alrighty then--yesterday we rode at Auburns Bartram Trail, that was eventful, my new chain was stretching out so I was pushing a larger gear, mikes crank arm came loose, had to return to the car for a tool to fix that and arriving at the car found us keyless! (that was my fault....if you even had to guess) so we had to call for a spare key, the original is still somewhere along the trail...came home to the biggest party I think 113 8th Street ever has seen, but that quieted down pretty quickly...a midnight urban assault on the river walk and explored one of the dams, and konked out around 3am...today has been calm..the weather is AWESOME...low 70s in the mornings and not above 85 during the day...nice
We're saying our goodbyes to two good friends as summer comes to a close. Mike Mahoney is moving to Houston, TX to live with his parents for a while, that's happening tomorrow : ( and Zach Foster is returning home to Carlsbad, NM I think around the 15th...hopefully we'll have a good going away party for him.
There will be pictures up of the guys trip to Snowshoe and Zach is letting me put some of his NM photos up on my website b/c he doesn't want to build his own...I can't wait to find a good reason to visit my fam in El Paso and do some riding there and in Carlsbad and the surrounding areas..
