Goodbyes

George Wesley Bellman
Recently I lost someone I dearly loved. He was sweet, kind, and warmhearted. He was my buddy, my confidant, and a staunch supporter of everything I did. He listened to me when I talked, never criticizing me for what I believed in, though he had his own opinions and I knew this. My grandfather.
My grandfather also went by the name of Red, for he had red hair at one time. I can remember it a little but mostly remember him with graying hair and the smell of cigars, he always had one with him.
Grandad grew up in Kansas, him and his brother and sisters. Their dad was a sheriff and they were according to my grandad ornery as all get out. They used to pull pranks and one of them was nailing their dads pants to the roof while roofing. At least that was the story I was told.
My grandfather was a font of information. He taught me how to fish, how to build a fire, plant a garden, and catch nightcrawlers. He made the most beautiful knives I have ever seen. He was a welder and worked for NASA doing things for them druing the times of the Appolo, Mercury, Gemini series and even made parts for the first skylab. He was a welder in WW2 doing welding on the planes to keep them going. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and most of all he was my best friend alongside my grandmother growing up.
I did'nt get to say goodbye so I guess this is my way of closure. To send a goodbye to him and mygrandmother by way of cyberspace. Letting them know that no matter how it seemed I cared for them more than they will ever know even if I never got to be with them the amount of time I would have liked in these past years.
Goodbye Grandaddy take care of yourself and Grandmother and watch over me, cause I know you are.

My grandmother my other bud. She died several years ago, 15 to be exact. She might have lived longer if the chemicals she worked with at the time had been made known to them and that they were toxic. She died due to an enlarged heart, it caused her body to overwork itself, though she lived 17 years longer than the doctors expected.
My grandmothers heart was larger not just because of that it was large with love for me and my brothers as well. I could always talk to her and Grandad. They were always there for me.
She taught me how to sew, and cook. And she taught me that I was pretty no matter what anyone else had to say about it. That I was wanted and loved.
I know she too is looking down on us and keeping her eye out for us. I miss you grandmother.
