We are offering camping or the possibility of renting a caravan on our beautiful organic farm in mid-northern Portugal. Set in 7 hectares of mixed trees, our farm is located in a secluded terraced valley close to the Rio Mondego, the only river with its source in Portugal.
Originally a Portuguese fruit farm, we now run the place on organic and permaculture principles. Quinta do Boico provides an ideal setting for a tranquil eco-holiday in nature. Spring water is available on tap at several places on the land. The farmhouse and the caravan have solar-powered energy and we have recycling bays plus two different designs of compost toilets.
On the farm we have a goat, chickens, cats and two rabbits. We try to minimise our impact on the environment, re-using, recycling and making use of the natural resources here in as sustainable a way as possible. We grow a lot of different fruits and vegetables which are available for sale in season.
In the wider area are opportunities to go canoeing, horse riding, walking, swimming, fishing and to visit the Serra da Estrela mountain range which is the highest in Portugal.
We are members of the international wwoof association and people come here to work in return for food and lodgings.
