Nickname: Ghosts (sometimes: Giovanni antitribu) Bloodline Origin: Few kindred within his bloodline dared oppose Augustus Giovanni as he tracked down and diablerized Cappadocious himself. Some feared the power he already attained in dealing with the spirits, some feared the power he gained through his most heinous act. Most coveted the power they themselves were sure to gain as Giovanni vaulted his own childer to full clan status. But there were some, some who, unbeknownst to Giovanni, developed their own link with the dead souls of the Shadowlands, who had been tutored by Cappadocious in their new art, and who awaited only one final implement, one last Necromantic ritual to segregate themselves from the hated children of Giovanni. And, shortly after the diablerization of the Cappadocian, a powerful wraith, skilled in the arts of Necromancy, cast a ritual that changed the handful of decentors' unlives forever. Five Giovanni, enraged by Augustus' act, traded their lineage, coveted skills in necromancy, and very physical forms for wraithly power. And thus was borne the Mortualian bloodline, the masters of the wraithly magics of Arcanium. From that time, the Ghosts have multiplied, perfecting their arcane arts. Hunted by the Giovanni, some have sought respite in the arms of the Sabbat, though most are still independent. Appearance: The Ghosts have no set look to which they subscribe. However, none, while living, were exceptionally athletic. Most Mortualian appear attired in the clothing they wore as mortals, unless the kindred in question has learned the Moliate Path. Haven: Ironically, most Mortualian make their havens in abandoned houses or other "haunted" sites, taking refuge in the building's reputation. Background: Ghosts choose their progeny from all walks of life, though most had some mediumistic or mystical ability in life. Ghosts rarely sire those who lead extremely physical lives, due to the nature of the bloodlines unique weakness. Character Creation: Ghosts can come from any race or age, and though either social or mental attributes may be primary, Physical attributes are always tertiary. Natures and Demeanors tend toward Director, Architect, or Scholarly archtypes. Knowledges are primary abilities. Clan Disciplines: Arcanium, Auspex, Presence Weakness: The Ghosts exist in a semi-corporeal state, their mortal shells discarded. In this state, the Mortualian are virtually unable to interact with the living world at all. A ghost cannot open doors, pick up a knife or even shake one's hand. With the expenditure of a blood point, a Ghost may pass through any physical object that is no thickert han her stamina rating in feet. This is a slow and painful process. Also, A Mortualian must spend a Willpower point to become solid enough to feed. All physical attacks made by a Mortualian are considered to be one level less critical: Aggravated is treated as Lethal; Lethal is treated as Bashing; and Bashing damage is ignored (though the Ghost's target may feel extremely uncomfortable as the Ghost passes through her body). However, all non-Aggravated physical attacks against a Ghost are ignored. Organization: The Mortualian have no formal organization, though they do use their Arcanium to keep in close touch with one another. They show a preference to the Sabbat's company over the Camarilla's and have been known to sequester themselves with members of the Harbingers of Skulls bloodlines for months at a time.
