| At age two I began emulating sweet beats to the likes of some dope Seasame Street jams, followed by the heavenly sounds of the Electric Company and Spiderman skits, you may have heard of. My serious attraction to music, however, developed way beyond that stage. When I was about four or five, sharing the stage with my uncle's band, I soloed |
| with a ukulele after consuming a number of unmarked pot brownies backstage. I executed my first and last stage dive, and began to contemplate my future as a common Catholic school kindergartener. After pissing in my pants during the pledge of allegiance on the first day of class, I realized that the nuns are reincarnated executioners looking for one more victim. Yet, I learned to love every one of them. Can you imagine what it's like to make an agreement with an intangible entity and actually follow through with it? My heart went out to them. So I learned Hotel California on the drums. It seemed appropriate. But then came the Marshall Tucker Band, Billy Joel and Fleetwood Mac. Soon after came Public Enemy, Anthrax and the Notorious B.I.G. Many other influences came before and after these heroes. Can you name them? |
