Beth Richard - Vocals and Guitar
Credits
I  get off to a well constructed song. The beauty of simplicity is so hard to attain. I'm constantly disecting others' vocals.  I am especially hard on myself so that I am always growing as an artist. I love playing the guitar and over the years have actually become a pretty decent player. If you put me anywhere in the world - I would be playing music. It is my passion and sustains my soul. It is so special to me,  I am lucky to make music my life.
I was raised with the help of a gospel musican named Ruth Long. She would be banging on the piano and singing away. I remember falling asleep listening to her through the vents. My first piano lessons were at the age of three. Although I never persued the piano, it is a part of me. My older brother and sister always had music blaring through the stereo, 8 - track, or car radio. My mother is a singer as well as my grandmother. I always sang, not professionally, but through the house, outside, at recess, in the park... everywhere.
I was studying at the University of Wisconsin when I took classical guitar class. It wasn't until I bought a Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac songbook that I really got into the guitar.  As soon as I could play my first chords, I started writing songs.  I would stand out with the street musicians and play for hours.
I met Jason at an open mic. He has been my biggest influence, teaching by example more than with words. He started playing lead guitar with me at some coffee house gigs. We left Madison for Austin, Texas where we formed a band. We've been playing at clubs and touring ever since.
It has taken me years to realize that I am a musican. Once I began playing there was no turning back.
