Regular Columns
A Postcard from the Palace - No, we aren't talking about the Buckingham Palace, even classier place: the Palace Theatre currently showing Les Miserables for the 13th strong year. My British correspondence, Julie Meader, will report her regular trips to the Palace (the rumor is that she lives there). Having seeing more than NINE pairs of Valjeans and Javerts, she deserves the title, Dame of West End. Her first column is of course about these sexy men. If we beg her via lots of e-mails, she may share her tricks of "Stagedoor 101: how to get an autograph and nice photo of performers" with us!! She is a genius, I tell ya.
To conclude 1998 as the most memorable year, Julie went on her most awaited trip to Edinburg to see her MAN in the UK tour of Les Mis. As she admits, her review is a bit long and biased toward you-know-who, but I dare not to edit! Check it out! Needless to say, I'm super-jealous that she got her wishes (Phil's triumph return). Well, where is mine, Philip?!
Who said an understudy isn't that good? Read who moved up to the fourth best Valjean in Julie's list here Vol. 8
I'm ashamed that Julie beat me in writing Colm's Valjean review. She saw it less than a week ago and I saw six months ago!! It's rather long but for those who cannot see Colm's last act as Valjean, it's blow by blow report! Dublin Tour report - As you guessed it, it's a compilation of the reviews from my regular the Phantom of the Opera (POTO) trips. I am a frequent visitor of San Francisco POTO, but I have seen it in Japan, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and London and checked out various "Men behind the mask." Not all the reviews are presented at once but be patient, I'll entertain you, it's not a cliche POTO review! I may invite guest columnists to provide international "Men behind the mask" reviews too, so please come back often!
It's sad but true, POTO Christine company in SF closed its final curtain on January 3, 1999, leaving many sad phans. Read my final review of SF POTO cast. The long wait is over! Lots of readers thought this is a great idea, but I have been procrastinated too long. Not anymore. I will work hard to keep the information up-to-date!
Hunk Watch is a sort of updates of various "Hunks" in the theatre industry. Currently, we follow Stephen Bienskie, John Barrowman, Matt Cammell, David Bardsley, Jerome Pradon. However, if you have a Hunk you want me to follow, please let me know. Also submission of any new (reliable) information on these guys will be greatly appreciated.
