Conclusion

The mineral Quartz (or SiO2) is common but can sometimes be valuable. It has been a very important mineral in industry because of it's properties for thousands of years. Quartz is in many sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. It is part of the Quartz group which is part of the Tectosilicate group which is in the silicate class. Their are many types of quartz: amethyst, milky quartz, rock crystal, rose quartz, smoky quartz, and yellow quartz. Quartz has a trigonal crystal structure.
