This water tower, like many other structures in UC
Davis, has been retrofitted for earthquake
safety.
The 1892 Winters/Vacaville quakes affected mainly
the western Sacramento Valley, with effects in
Davis but barely in Sacramento.

Although many think that the
Central Valley's chance of an earthquake is remote,
it has happened before. This page will prove to
Central Valley residents that the Sacramento area
is still susceptible to an earthquake, even though
we haven't had one recently.
