OVERVIEW

The Ministry of Defense advises the Government on the defense of the Republic of Qinqe and the protection of its interests. It acquires the necessary military equipment and assesses and audits the Qinqean Home Guard functions, duties and responsibilities. The Qinqean Home Guard is a subsidiary organization comprising the Home Defense Force, the Coastal Defense Force, the Home Guard Auxiliaries and Academy. The Ministry of Defense is responsible for managing the Home Guard on a day-to-day basis, and for carrying out of the Government's defense policy.

 

HOME DEFENSE

The 3rd Home Defense Battalion deployed to Kabul for Operation Chimali, the Qinqean contribution to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force. In addition, Brevet Captain Michael Gonoforez deployed to Afghanistan to begin a one-year tour as a military advisor to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan. [Read More]

 

COASTAL DEFENSE

The Coastal Defense Directorate has purchased from LeHaven Shipyards Co. Ltd., a $11.6 million vessel to be used for basic naval training. This vessel, to be designated the RQS Governor Archer training vessel, will replace the RQS Governor Strobel training vessel. [Read More]

 

As part of its continuing exploration into unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the Air Defense Directorate recently purchased the Silver Fox mini UAV system produced by Advanced Ceramics Research of Tuscon, Arizona. [Read More]

 

AUXILIARIES

Prime Minister Robert Burton today announced that Qinqe will train 100 Iraqi Police Officers as part of the UN Stabilization Mission in Iraq (UNSMI). In addition to the funding for this contingent, since February, Qinqe has contributed a total of close to $1.3 million to the people of Iraq. [Read More]
