A special feature I would like to share is a travel story by Egil Repstad, a Norwegian who visited a place called Pemeungpeuk, in the southern part of West Java. Why ? Here is the story...

My brother in law told me many times about the beautiful Pameungpeuk beach. The name itself sounds strange to me and I've never heard about the place before. His wife and in-laws live in Garut, a city in West Java (south to Bandung). Garut is practically the nearest "civilized" city to Pameungpeuk.

Packed in a sedan I owned at that time, me, my wife, my daughter, plus my sister-in-law and two nephews in their teens...in total six...we drove to Garut. We didn't plan to reach as far as Pameungpeuk. We stayed overnight in Garut (stayed at the in-laws house of course) and the next day took some swimming in a hot-spring water swimming pool in Cipanas (Garut).
Refreshing.

It was on the second day that we were persuaded by my brother-in-law to drive to Pameungpeuk. This time plus my brother-in-law, his wife and their little son. In total nine passengers packed in a sedan...and yes it was worth the trip

We drove through two or three mountains, and the view was fantastic...tea plantation...cacao plantation....pine trees ...and once we reached the beach...it was beautiful...endless beach coast...and the waves...wow !!!

Back to my boring life at the office, I opened the Google and typed the word Pameungpeuk...and guess what...no one has written anything "real" about the place...except EGIL REPSTAD

So... without his permission I downloaded his website and showed it to my brother-in-law. And he was suprised too. Eventually, Egil's website about Pemeungpeuk has expired. Originally its location was:

http://elvebredd.tripod.com/pameungpeuk.html

I noticed that one Norwegian travel website has put his website as a link...broken link of course. To preserve his story (again without his permission) I told myself, I have to re-activate his website. One way is by putting his story on this site as is, in original language (Norsk). If someone should by any chance be able to reach Egil...please kindly tell him about me and this website..

Velkommen to Pameungpeuk
