Manmadan

Simbu has handled the screenplay story and dialogues of this thriller which has revenge as the theme. Simbu is doing a double role which is the surprise package in the movie. Simbu has acted very well and he has put great efforts in efficiently narrating the story keeping the suspense till the end. Although in the lines of Sigappu Rojakal, he has handled the pace beautifully.

Attagasam

Ajith's comeback film which is about twin brothers in the line of Vaali and Villian. The first brother is an innocent guy who runs a driving school and the second is a Tuthukudi dada who is a shady gray character. Its about the 2 brothers who are separated and how the separated brother, the dada Ajith seeks revenge on his mother Sujatha who saves the other brother and chases away the dada Ajith. Ajith's fans will have a thalai diwali with this gallatta movie.

7G Rainbow colony

Ravi Krishna and Sonia Agarwal have given some excellent performance in this movie which talks about teenage love, fight, rejections, aim and ambitions. Both the hero and heroine have lived the roles and done justice to it. Selvaragavan's screenplay and daologues are very down to earth and realistic without any cinematic element. Its closer look at life of the teenagers of this generation.

Star Captain and the world of tommorrow (English)

This an animated movie with giant robots, jets, tunnels, ice mountains with real life characters who are amongst the animation and try to save the world from the an evil scientist. The movie is fast paced and takes us to the world they are trying to save. the time span is interesting since the present day when the movie is taking place is in the 30's but the technology and the happenings are futuristic.

Forgotten (English)

A very different film with a nail biting end. There is a group who are testing the memory of parents and thier kids, who make the kids disappear and erase that memory from the parents, except one. The one parent gets down to the bottom of the mystery and comes out unharmed with the truth. Excellent narration and great twists. Different concept and adept direction.

Chellamey (Tamil)

Its a movie about a confused teenage boy who is possessive of a sisterly neighbour and goes to the extent of kidnapping her from her husband and holding her hostage. The movie is in the lines of Guna, Sethu & Kaadhal Kondain. "Boys" Bharath and Reema Sen give some excellent performance and this could be a break for Reema Sen just like "Valli" was for Simran. The boys feelings towards the heroine cannot be catagorized as pure lust or motherly love or sisterly affection or possessively friendly. But the movie is worth a watch.

Starsky and Hutch (English)

Beb Stiller and Owen Wilson star as two totally mismatched cops who have to join hands to fight a drug trafficking case. How they resolve thier diffferences and solve things is told in this funny comedy. The duo reminds us of our own Parthiban and Vadivelu duo.

Whole 10 Yards (English)

Its a sequel to Whole Nine Yards. Again its a saga about the hitman, Jimmy the Tulip (Bruce Willis) and the timid dentist, Oz (Mathew Perry). Things get way out of hand when Oz's wife is kidnapped and the resuce team finds her but to know that everything was pre-planned to loot 280 million dollars from the bad guys. Mathew Perry is at his best and sort of identical to his character Chandler Bing in F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Wholesome entertainment and ideal for a late night movie.

Kudaikul Mazhai (Tamil)

This movie deals with the concept of schizophrenia. Tender human heart goes through truamatic changes when its hurt badly. Madhumita, a TV anchor person tricks Venkat, an innocent auto driver, into falling in love for a reality show. Hurt by her rejection and ridicule, Venkat lives in his own delusions and fantasies. The second half of the movie revolves around Venkat kidnapping Madhumita and proving his love to her and then sucessfully making her fall in love with him but the surprise is yet to come, as everything turns out to be his own imagination. New venture in Tamil and viewers will be taken up by the surprise surely.

50 First Dates (English)

Lucy (Drew Barrymore) a girl with short-term memory loss (she can only remember what happened 10 years ago and not what happened yesterday) and Henry (Adam Sandler), a playboy in Hawaii, fall in love with one another. But he has to keep getting her to fall in love with him every time they meet in order for them to have a relationship, since she never remembers the last time she met him. So everyday he has to propose to her and start all over again. Its a very funny and touching. A type of illness is never ventured but cleverly handled.

Mean Girls (English)

Lindsay Lohan, raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, thinks she can cope up the the stylish and posh school in Chicago until she finds the Mean Girls who are out there to torment her. She falls a prey to the unwritten laws, social standards and mind games at school. But in the end learns a valuble lesson of life. Lindsay Lohan sparkles once again after "Freaky Friday". Jyothika fans out there might associate Lohan with her, since both a cute, chubby and bubbly.

Butterfly Effect (English)

Its a soul-stirring movie with a complex and tricky screenplay which goes back and forth as the hero tries to solve some unpleasant events in his pasts. In the end he realises that some things have to be accepted painfully so that other events in his life will fall in its place. The pace of the movie rockets from past to present that it takes a while to understand what exactly is happening, once we get a grasp of things, then there is no looking back.

Madhurey (Tamil)

Vijay as the undercover guy who has a Batcha-like past where he is a collector in Madhurai. Vijay sparkles in the first half as a vegetable vendor in Chennai, but as a collector in the second, he looks very immature and totally mismatched for that role. As usual logic and common sense is thrown in the air and heroism and mass-appealing slow motions and stunts are give top priority. Very stale and total lack of imagination without logic.

Azhagiya Theeye (Tamil)

It is a movie which comes like a breath of fresh air amongst the masala, action and vulargity reigning high in tamil cinema. Its a simple love story about a girl and boy who are brought togethor by fate and who get married by fate and then fall in love by fate. Its a simple down-to-earth love story which is very close to reality with no unrealistic fights or absurd build-ups or illogical events.
