Robbie and I have long agreed that we should hold a "2nd wedding" when we go back to the Philippines. This plan was consummated in January 2004 when we, together with our little Christiana, visited my family for the first time. We opted for renewal of vows since our wedding was already held in church and blessed by a minister.
I personally made our invitation. I included our first wedding pictures and some family portraits. Robbie also prepared the songs that will be played during the ceremony and reception, while I conceptualized the program.
According to one website that we came across, www.gettingremaried.com, there are really no set rules for renewal of vows, this was our day and we did it our own way. Just like our wedding, Robbie and I preferred a simple yet meaningful ceremony. Some friends as well as family members were very helpful from preparation to reception. We also would like to acknowledge the officiating minister, Rev. Paul Narido of Jesus is Lord Church, and to friends Donna Gay Mabutas and Rico Mariano for hosting the reception.
On January 31, 2004 at Kowloon House West in Quezon City, Robbie and I once again affirmed our vows as husband and wife in the presence of God, our family and friends, and our daughter. Using our original wedding elements, we were clothed and bound again as one, and our unity candle was lighted once more. Pastor Paul re-dedicated our wedding bands and anointed us with oil.
The reception, on the other hand, was very relaxing. We had so much fun, and we couldn't thank enough all the guests for their cooperation. The whole event lasted for more than four hours. This was indeed a wonderful moment of our life. God deserves all the glory, honor and praise!
