Robbie and I decided to become one before God and men on August 21st, 1999. Our blessed union was fulfilled on a beautiful summer day in California. It was a very special occasion especially for two people of distinct culture. As simple as the celebration was, Robbie and I decided to spend this significant day in the presence of God and our immediate family. It was a pure family affair.
Prior to leaving the Philippines, I already bought my wedding gown (custom-made) and prepared the invitations and souvenir items (thanks to Mamang for all her help!). Robbie, on the other hand, was busy coordinating the details of our wedding and our honeymoon. Since Robbie's immediate family are all within California, it wasn't difficult to contact each of them.
I left the Philippines on Tuesday, August 17th. Robbie and I didn't want to live under one roof until we're married, so I stayed in a hotel. Our wedding ceremony was simple yet genuine. Even though it wasn't extravagant, what matters most was our union before God and men. It was truly a momentous event.
Our ceremony was patterned after traditional American and Filipino Christian wedding. In addition to marriage vows and rings, we incorporated arrhae, veil, cord and candle. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Pastor Ericson not only for ministering our wedding but also for accommodating the Filipino elements in the ceremony.
Our wedding lasted for an hour, and the reception immediately followed at the church's garden. Robbie and I celebrated our honeymoond at Reno, Nevada.
