Walkthrough, Level 14: Finding the bomb
I do not guarantee that this walkthrough is complete.
The route described below is the one I have found be the easiest. I
know and you probably know as well that there are plenty of different
ways to finish the level.
Objectives: |
- Find Ekk and kill her
- Locate the bomb and disable it
|
This level is rather long. You have hardly any place to
hide if you have to reload or something like that, since you're running around
in tunnels most of the time. In this level the Jackhammer is probably the best
weapon choice most of the time. Unlike the other levels you'll probably won't
need the Dragunov too many times. Use your medikits (if you need) whenever
things are quiet. Try to have maximum amount of AK47 ammo when you reach the
end of the level.
You start in a big room with lots of crates. There are two doors in the room,
one to the left when facing out to the room from where you start and one
straight ahead. You'll need to hack a computer before the door to the left can
be opened. At a ramp above you is a guard patrolling. Use the Dragunov, then
continue in through the door straight ahead.
In the next room you have some goodies (screenshot to the right) on the crates
to the left and a tunnel leading away to the right. Kill the guard in the tunnel
(screenshot to the left) before you go back and pick up the goodies. Then turn
around and go through the tunnel. Be careful at the bend after the S-shaped
bends. There's a room with one guard waiting straight ahead and another waiting
to the left of the door. Kill them and take the elevator. No one will wait when
the elevator arrives.
Go through the room and tunnel to the door. Open it and back off while staying
close to the left wall. You will see a guard patrolling in front of the panorama
window. Kill him and let the door close. Another guard will come running and
open the door. You can easily kill him while the door is opening. Straight
ahead to the left (behind computers) is one guard waiting with a Spas12. Kill
him, go back to the door and then straight ahead to the right. Another
Spas12-guard is waiting (screenshot to the left) and behind the next wall you'll
find another two guards and the computer you'll need to hack (screenshot to the
right).
Hack the computer and go back to the elevator. Don't go down yet! When you enter
the elevator Anya contacts you and says that they have brought a tank down in
the tunnels. Go back to the panorama window and shoot the tank with the LAW from
there. Then go back to the room where you found all the goodies.
Now totally five guards will wait in the room where the level started.
Three will guard the door you are about to exit and two more are guarding the
other door. Open the door and kill the three guards. (Screenshot to the
right)
When you exit through the door you'll see Ekk running away
to the right, saying something. Go to the left, around the tank and the crates
so that you'll come behind the guards at the other door. Shoot the first with a
headshot from the silent mp5 so that the other won't be alerted (there's a guard
behind the closed door who also can hear the shots, so use the mp5 for both
guards).
Open the door and enter the corridor, kill the guard patrolling and to through
the door to the right. Look in the ceiling. There's a sentry gun. In front of
the gun is a camera (screenshot left). Destroy it and continue. There's another
camera further down the corridor (screenshot right). Don't go too far, if the
light starts blinking red, back off. Destroy the camera and continue straight
ahead.
There are small office rooms to the right and left. In the first to the left
you'll find a jackhammer with ammo (This is probably the
best weapon pick-up in the whole level, so don't miss it!) and in the
last to the right you'll find flashbangs. Go back to where the second camera
was. Open the door to the right (not into the dining room) and kill the Uzi
guard patrolling the tunnel behind it.
Equip yourself with a hand grenade. Continue to the next door. Behind the door
are a camera and two guards. If you throw the grenade so that it lands close to
the door (then backpedal to avoid taking damage from the grenade) the camera
will be destroyed and you can then open the door and take care of the guards
without having to worry about the camera (thanks Erik Svensson for that
tip). When the guards are dead, enter the room, notice the computer (don't
use yet) and pick up medikit and other stuff at the crates to the right.
Open the next door. There's a guard patrolling a long tunnel. If you're lucky
he's far away and you can snipe him with the Dragunov before he sees you,
otherwise Jackhammer him away to the enemies' heaven. Continue straight ahead to
the next room (there's a side tunnel which leads to the other side of the room,
one stair up. You can take this tunnel if you wanna reverse the sentry guns, but
my experiences are that you loose more health doing this than just running
through the big room). The room you enter is rather open and contains of
several floors. Guards will come out of doors at higher floors and start
shooting. One stair up you can see the window to the control room where the
computer for reversing the sentry guns is. You shall exit this room through the
door one stair down to the left of the door you enter through. There's a
guard patrolling clockwise around the floor you're entering. Snipe or Jackhammer
him (screenshot left). Sometimes (I don't know why) Anya tells you that the
sentry guns are on-line again. You must then go back to the room where you threw
the hand grenade and hack the computer before you can continue.
Go out through the door and look down to the left. There's a guard you need
to take out as soon as possible (screenshot right). When he's dead run to the
ladder going down which is situated at the other end of the room. Slide down and
run to the door where the last guard was standing. Open the door and kill the
guard inside who is standing with his back to you.
If you reversed the guns you're not safe until you're a bit into tunnel so that
you can't be seen from the door (guards will start to respawn just inside the
door) Cure yourself for a while and think about how nice it could be to be
out in the sun instead of in front of a computer screen. Then think about that
you now completed almost a third of this last level. Continue to a fork in
the tunnel. You shall go left but you can continue straight ahead just to listen
to a Russian soldier who says that the room at the end of the tunnel is well
fortified (you can of course go straight ahead if you feel that you're in
desperate need of a double Uzi, but be prepared for a mayhem). As I said, go
left at the fork. Soon you'll encounter a Spasi12-guard. Shoot him and continue
to the next fork. You shall here go right. There's a guard (of course there's a
guard, there's always a guard when you enter a new tunnel) patrolling up and
down. Let him see you and go back in the tunnel you came from (don't shoot him
immediately, there's a camera further ahead which might see him die and alarm a
number of guards). Shoot him when he comes around the corner.
Continue down the tunnel to the right. Shoot the camera and continue straight
ahead. You open the door with the keylock to the right of the door. Place a
proximity mine on the wall before you open the door. (Don't place it too far
from the door, since the guards will spawn (or be teleported or whatever they do
when they just show up at a spot) just before the door. When you enter the
room Ekk will escape in the elevator. Go up to the elevator and push the button.
Turn around and be prepared for the guards who will show up. The first couple
will (hopefully) be blown to pieces by the proxy mine. You need to shoot another
couple before the elevator shows up. Go up in elevator. No one will wait when
the elevator arrives.
Behind the door straight ahead waits a camera (above the door, to the right)
and a patrolling guard. There's nothing in the side tunnel to the right (unless
the camera alarms), so continue straight ahead and around the bend.
Open the door and destroy the camera (up to the right) before you kill the
patrolling guard. Turn left. Use the Dragunov to destroy the camera straight
ahead. Quickly switch to the Jackhammer and shoot the guard who comes screaming.
At the fork, go left (again) and down a slope. You'll encounter another guard.
Turn around the bend. You'll see two niches on each side of the tunnel. A Spas12
guard is waiting in each niche. A hand grenade into one of the niches will
do. Open the door. Behind are some crates. Between the crates you can see
guards below. Shoot them and be prepared for another guard who might come. Walk
down one of the ramps.
Behind the crates (under the ramp) are lots of goodies (screenshot left). It's a
bit dark, but make your way through to under the other sloping ramp and you'll
get rewarded. Walk back, open door. Two (if one didn't run out before) guards
are waiting. Walk around the computer straight ahead and shoot the guard in
front of the plant (screenshot right). Another one will come running if you
don't use a silent weapon (don't it's easier to shoot him here).
Enter the next room. There are several floors. Altogether there are three
guards below at different floors. Shoot them and climb down to ground floor.
Jump into ventilation shaft and continue to reactor coolant room.
Climb the ladder straight ahead. Enter room to the right and shoot two guards.
Operate the computer which is near the panorama window, to start the
coolant-system. Go to the back of the room (away from the window) and duck
behind computer. Now a minor war will take place. Russian soldiers and Ekk's men
will have a shoot-out in the room outside (not that the Russians are marked
green through the binoculars, but they aren't friendly at all). Usually Ekk's
men win the shoot-out and guards are placed at different places in the room. Use
Dragunov to shoot the ones you can see. Then exit the control room, quickly
slide down the ladder and exit to the next tunnel where a guard is patrolling
(You will probably be shot at, but ignore it, just try to make it to the exit).
Go around the bend and enter the second last room in the game. Fix yourself up
with the medikit on the table before you exit through the door. Be prepared with
AK47 or M16A2.
FINAL SHOWDOWN
Let's go through the scenario which is going to take place.
First you will kill all guards (14, yes fourteen) who will come out of door No 1
(I number the doors clockwise around the room, there are one door in each corner
of the room). Then you'll go down from the balcony and encounter Ekk together
with some guards. When she's dead Anya will enter the stage. She will go down to
the sunken part of the room and defuse the bomb. Your mission will be to protect
her from guards coming from door 3 and 4 (With these tactics I never encountered
a guard from door 2). Eventually Harrison's men will come and help you and Anya
will succeed defusing.
Exit through the door and walk straight up to the fence (don't go too far to
the right, guards further in in the room will see you). Door number 1 will open
and a guard will come. Shoot him, reload and wait for the next guard. Be sure to
count them. All in all 14 guards will show up from door 1.
Kill the guards one by one |
Why not blast them away with M16A2 grenade? |
Eventually you'll have a neat pile of 14
Spas12 |
Now you're ready to encounter Ekk. Walk out on the platform and shoot the
guard(s) across the room. Equip yourself with Jackhammer, then climb down
ladder. Run right and you'll meet Ekk. Two-three blows with the Jackhammer are
sufficient (actually really disappointing, I thought it would be more action).
Some guards will show up from the right. Anya will come running from the left.
She's really an Ekk look-alike at a first glance, so hold your fire. Ekk does
not respawn.
Now keep an eye on doors three and four (to the left and to the
right). Shoot the guards who show up and wait for Anya to defuse the
bomb. Some of Harrison's men will show up and help you and eventually Anya
succeeds defusing the bomb. Voila! Game finished. Watch outro-video. That wasn't
too hard, was it?
