| Project Trust are a non profit making educational charity. They specialise in sending volunteers abroad to work in a community for 12 months. Project Trust was founded in 1968 and since then have sent over 4000 volunteers overseas. They are based on the remote Scottish island of Coll, and volunteers must travel up to this beautiful island for selection, training and debriefing. All the projects abroad are vetted for suitability, and none deprive the local people of work. Project also provide extensive support for volunteers both during fundraising, and during their time overseas. |

| Project Trust have 4 main objectives: 1. To give young people the opportunity to learn about a wider community than that in which they have lived so far, in a country with a different culture to their own, and for a length of time which allows them to appreciate the complete cycle of seasons. 2.To let them learn to use their own imagination and skills by undertaking work which they may never have done before, to take up new interests and to utilise their initiative and resoursefulness to help others. 3. To return with an objective appreciation of both the community they have lived in overseas and their home community, to use their newly learnt skills to benefit others and to have a clearer picture of what they want to acheive in the future. 4. To help others at home understand the culture of countries outside their normal experience. |
