How to Conserve Energy
- Turn off the lights when
you're not using them.
- Turn off your computer. Don't lleave it on overnight, or let it go to
standby. It's wasting energy that you could be saving. If you're going out or
sleeping, you don't need to have your computer on.
- Don't leave the TV on. When youu aren't watching it, turn it off.
- Unplug appliances that you arenn't using
- Replace incandescent light bulbs wiith compact fluorescent light bulbs.
CFLs are better at producing light without wasting as much energy as
incandescent light bulbs. Incandescent light bulbs convert a lot of potentially
valuable energy into low quality energy that radiates off as heat.
- Changing your thermostat even one degree higher during the summer and
one degree lower during the winter can help you save energy and money.
- Invest in better insulation for youur housing. Better insulation results
in less lost heat during the winter. That way, more heat can stay inside your
house during the winter and you don't have to use your heater as much during the
cold months.
