Making a Difference

Purpose:

The purpose of The Princess Trust is to raise funds for and raise awareness on the issue of child sexual abuse. The Princess Trust raises money to provide grants and expertise for South African organizations and individuals involved in child sexual abuse and early childhood development issues. The Princess trust is a registered South African charitable trust and donor organization, and is not a service provider or non-government organization. The aim of The Princess Trust is to add value to the considerable research and service work currently being undertaken in South Africa on these important issues.

Mission:

The Princess Trust, founded on 1 July 2002, was inspired by the courage and innocence of a very special little girl, affectionately known as Princess Moonbeam. Her ordeal and her strength motivate us and many others to cry out against the sexual assault of young children as an unacceptable and unconscionable form of oppression. The trustees and volunteers of The Princess Trust are dedicated to the eradication of child sexual abuse and to advocating for the holistic welfare and development of children from birth to six years old.

Philosophy:

As members of South African society we are committed to challenging the evils that have perpetrated an ongoing wave of atrocities against the most vulnerable members of our society when they are at their most vulnerable. The children of South Africa are our future and the wealth of this nation. The influence of discrimination, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS, tradition, poverty, drugs or alcohol must not be excuses for the desecration of South Africa's children. We believe that knowledge, resources, and vigorous advocacy of children's rights will throw the light of truth on these heinous crimes and allow us to promote for all of our children an environment of security, stability and joy that is their birthright. This philosophy is the foundation for our programs and our joint endeavors with other groups and individuals working towards similar societal change.
