What we do:

The Princess Trust stewards funds for advocacy around the rights and needs of young children:

Grants and expertise for child sexual abuse agencies:

To support existing public and private efforts at crisis intervention in the medical, psychosocial and legal issues around child sexual abuse. The Princess Trust maintains a national fund supported by a network of experts and professionals on-call to victims, their families, caretakers and the media. The Princess Trust network places special emphasis on resources for the social, trauma, legal and criminal aspects of the rape of infants under two years old.

Research in early childhood development:

The Princess Trust supports promising South African researchers in the broad field of early childhood development including infant trauma- that contribute to new knowledge on any of the following:

  • understanding the underlying causes of the crime of infant sexual assualt;
  • assisting victims, their families and communities in healing and recovery;
  • ensuring secure, stable environments for young children at risk.

The Princess Trust solicits research proposals at any level and in any field, and ensures that the results of Trust sponsored research are disseminated for social empowerment and policy development.
