I
was overcome with sickness when I first learned what
had happened to Princess Moonbeam. I choked on the thought;
humanity had expressed its vilest potential. No one needs reminding
that people are capable of horrifying and inexplicable acts,
of hate and destruction. But then again, people often need reminding
that many are capable of the most wonderful and selfless acts,
of love and compassion. The story of Princess Moonbeam's rape
and of Claudia's intervention and rescue speaks to both potentials.
By telling this story to as many people that are brave enough
to listen, we hope to educate thousands and restore faith in
the notion that people are inherently good. |
We want to show that the actions of a few influence the thinking and
lives of many. We also want to inform people that infant rape is a
real and recurring problem in South Africa in the hope that public
pressure will somehow lead to its eradication.
The
documentary project follows Claudia as she embarks on a quest to understand
what happened to her adoptive daughter Princess Moonbeam, and launches
her campaign to raise public awareness and outrage. Claudia is intent
on breaking the culture of silence, which has muted all discourse
on the issue of baby rapes in South Africa. It is Claudia's intention
to provide a voice, not only to the infant victims of rape, but to
all women, in an attempt to force South Africans to confront this
issue head-on.
Unfortunately,
North American media outlets have been reluctant to cover this story.
As a result, it has been difficult to attract the funds necessary
to complete this film.
But
you can help finish this important documentary by making a small contribution
