Weekly Web Wonder: The BEST Camera Review Site
I'm still pretty happy with my Canon A80 camera, but sometimes I feel a little megapixel and
feature envy when I look at some of the newer cameras that are out (not to mention how much
you get for your money now). The site that helped me decide on my Canon is probably one of

Weekly Web Wonder: Remembering Mondo 2000
In the final months of the 80's, the indie 'zine scene was hit with the slickly produced Mondo 2000 which focused
on the nascent cyber culture. For a few
years, M2K became the defining chronicler of all that was technohip. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons
(not least of which was the appearance of the similar, but more mainstream, Wired magazine), Mondo faltered and
eventually disappeared. I enjoyed Mondo's vibrant articles, "slice and splatter" design, and edgy content
(even the ads were edgy, with Logitech "peeing baby" ad being the most amusing and memorable). For an overview

Weekly Web Wonder: Even More Phone Phun
Here's a cool tool, the Phone Number Geolocator.
Just enter a phone number's first 6 digits and it will give a very rough location of the phone number's origin (with accompanying map). It obviously doesn't work
well with mobile phones, but for land-line numbers, it does seem to work (well, sort of. With the phone numbers I plugged in,
it was only accurate to within 3 miles or so).

Several years ago, an obscure site called hampsterdance.com swept cyberspace with its
infectious tune.
Of course, the site has matured considerably since then, but it was one of the earliest "fad" sites
to emerge on the Web.

Weekly Web Wonder: A truly crappy site
It's difficult to refrain from dropping toilet puns, but I will do what I can.
Evidently there's a World Toilet Organization,
and they're holding their annual summit and expo in Moscow this year. I just hope those attending, after
being flush with the excitement of the summit, will wash their hands after they finish.

I don't often view or plug other blog sites, but this one merits a mention. It's a view from
the inside of Wal-Mart and work life (?) there. Let's just hope the blogger doesn't pay too
high a price for telling the truth about the retailer with the lowest prices.

(zero). Your target will be called and your message will be read back to the listener.
Note that your phone messages won't be anonymous, as your IP address will be read back to the

You don't need a mobile phone to message another mobile phone, as you can do it via plain e-mail. Here's

(for broadband Internet users only) Check out FlashEarth.com.
Combining satellite photo resources from Google and Microsoft,
Flash Earth is an absolutely amazing site. From viewing the whole
planet to zooming down to an almost half meter per pixel resolution
(in urban areas only), you can view anyplace on the planet. It's
fun to check out famous landmarks, and look straight down on your own
home.
