T +6 years

Has it been six years since I moved here?? It's hard to believe it has been that long since I arrived here with only my car, clothes, and computer in search of a better life. These past six years have had plenty of highs and lows, but it is still an improvement over life in southern Oregon.

Zoo Pix Trip

Yesterday I went to the zoo to put my new Canon digital camera through its paces. It has proven to be a very good camera, but taking pictures without a flash in low light situations requires a very steady hand or use of a tripod (unless one wants to raise the ISO setting which means a more noisy image). I look forward to returning to the zoo in the spring when there's more sun and warmer weather.

Kewl New Toy

For the past couple months I have been considering getting a digital camera. After reading numerous online reviews and digital photography sites, I settled on the Canon Powershot A-80. At $400, it's not cheap, but it has a lot of features not normally found in digicams in its price class, such as a full manual mode to give one total control of the camera. I won't retire my 35mm Pentax point-and-shoot yet, but I doubt I will be using it much in the future.
