About

Welcome. It's been over three years since I had a site online, and even then it was nothing more than just an online resume/portfolio. Before that, my first and last personal site (circa 1995) was nothing more than an HTML test platform with very, very little interesting content. So this site is long overdue, to say the least.

I hope you will find this site to be an interesting peek into my life and interests, and find it different than the usual personal web sites and blogs that are so rife in cyberspace. Enjoy.

Mini-Bio
Born in sunny Colorado and relocated to rainy Oregon, the author spent the bulk of his life in the Southern Oregon area. Graduating high school in 1985, he majored in laser- electro optics technology at OIT, graduating in 1990. Chased out of Medford by an angry mob for unholy experiments involving lasers and kittens, he relocated to the Portland metro area in 1997. He currently resides in Beaverton with his fish. And sometimes he likes to write about himself in the 3rd person narrative.

Personality
According to the Myers-Briggs personality test, I'm INFJ ("author"), INFP ("questor"), or INTP ("architect") depending on my mood at the time I have taken the tests. But I put as much stock in such tests as astrology or hand-writing analysis, which is to say, very very little.

I have taken the Geek Test and Purity Test, but I won't say what my scores are.

As for my personality, applicable adjectives would be reliable, iconoclastic, humorous, loyal, intelligent, and maybe a little weird.

Work
The author has worked as a:

  • Dishwasher at a Chinese & gourmet restaurant
  • Telemarketer (sorry)
  • Telephone order rep for a mail-order company
  • Quality control inspector for a printing company
  • ISO 9002 documentation manager
  • Webmaster at a small ISP
  • Tech support drone at a Beaverton based tech support firm

Currently, the author is a happily employed as a writer/designer (AKA technical writer) in the training department of a local deparment store chain.

Hobbies/Interests
When I can, I make time to pursue various activities and interests:

  • Taekwondo. Well, taekwondo WAS an activity for me until early this year. After 3 years, I decided not to renew my membership. It was a fun, albeit rather expensive, change of pace for me. And while I enjoyed it, I didn't aspire to go beyoned 1st degree black belt.
  • Drawing. I don't make time for this as much as I would like, but it's always been both relaxing and challenging to put pencil to paper and let one's imagination go wild.
