Raindrops - a poem

The raindrops of June,
sing out a new tune;
Gone is the oppressive heat of may,
This is the start of a rainy day.
Every tree sprouts a flower,
celebrating each rain shower;
Greenery covers the face of the earth,
The river swells, the brook gurgles in mirth.
The soil smells ever so sweet,
As rainwater and earth meet;
The majestic sun hides in the sky,
As it watches each dark cloud passing by.
The children play and splash water;
The sheltered birds chitter-chatter;
My heart feels joy, happiness and fun,
As I dream of being, with that special someone.
My dreams interrupted by birds in full flight,
For the sun has come out shining bright;
The raindrops glisten like the brightest pearl,
Each colour of the rainbow begins to unfurl.
Rainy day, teach us how to make every moment special,
like that raindrop left behind on every petal;
Which in its short life sparkles ever so bright,
Touching everyone's heart with its small little light.
The rainy day came and stole away all sorrow,
Every heart crying out for an encore tomorrow.
Rainy day take away all our sadness and pain,
When you come and visit our lives again.
