In 1995 I decided to build a world class computer
manufacturing company. Accordingly in 2000 I completed my Diploma and began
my Degree in computer engineering. These engineering years gave me an
insight into what goes into building a computer. It gave me a chance to
interact with like minded people and these interactions gave me practical
knowledge that helped me to think like an engineer. And so in 2001 I and a
couple of friends set out to build a portal called GalsandPals.com. Its USP
was a (then) distinct flash fascia with eye catching visual applets and
instant navigation through multiple frames. We meant to take the web world
by storm. The site was appreciated by those who saw and used it; we even got
a few so called investors interested in it. But somehow it never became a
Yahoo, Google or Hotmail. This experience pointed out an important
limitation in what I had learned. I learned to build a computer and to make
it work efficiently and to build websites and applications but now I needed
some more knowledge I required something really important, a value addition;
an MBA.
Today in the world of
handhelds with industries like automobiles, machinery and entertainment all
dependin g on good computerized systems;
my professional goal is to set up a world class facility to not only satisfy
this demand for more intelligent devices but also create new
standards in cutting edge technology.
Instead of Indians working on foreign turnkey projects, we can build
indigenous technologies. The automotive sector shifting operations to India
already gives us a market to sell our technologies. Opportunity is staring
at us and I want to be well prepared to grab it.
On the personal front, I
aim to become an entrepreneur in the truest sense of the word. I want to
have good knowledge to take sound decisions. To take risks and maximize what
I know I can achieve. If engineering has taught me to create a product, an
MBA will help create one that is economically viable and easily marketable.
It will enhance my Business acumen to complement my technical skills. For
me, an MBA is not just a large salary or position, but the satisfaction in
seeing my abilities being utilized to its fullest. It is the only logical
extension to the knowledge I posses and the means to achieve the goals that
I have set.
