         My Schooling

I started my education at SBOA school in Annanagar, Chennai. It is a school that encourages extra curricular activities of the students rather than the subjects alone. Apart from my academic subjects, I learnt many things like painting, crafts, etc in my earlier classes. Then I was in the Scouts, and was a member of the Social Service League. I studied in the school till my 8th standard, after which we shifted our house to Adyar. I joined a new school (Vidya Vinaya Vinodha) nearby to my house. I was a very average student till my 10th public examinations. Thanks to my parents and my cousin who helped me score a good percentage in the 10th standard. My Academic career is tabulated below.

Check out an Class Photograph of my 5th standard. My B.Tech classmate Vinod is also my school classmate.

SSLC 89%
Diploma In Computer Technology 92%
Bachelor of Technology (Information Technology) 81.5%  (Till my 4th semester)

           My Introduction to Computers

I was introduced to computers on my 6th standard. Though the basics of computers were taught to me theoretically, I didn't have practical knowledge. My father's office had two or three computers (an 286 and a 386), with which I had an opportunity of practicing my BASIC programs. Soon,  all the office staff became my friends, and they taught me how to draft Structural & Civil drawings using AUTOCAD. I became well proficient in Autocad, after which I learnt 3DStudio Max. I used to involve myself  in the DTP work in the  office. That helped me learn MS OFFICE.

           Diploma in Computer Technology

All the basic knowledge about computers, made me choose a Diploma course rather than the usual plus one. I thought I can do B.E after my D.C.T. I was very much interested in computers that I went for a crash course in DOS, LOTUS & Word star even before I joined DCT. In my DCT, I was taught about Microprocessors, System Software, Assembly Language, Computer Graphics & Communications & other application software. By the time I was doing my second year, I got myself an Internet Shell Account (which was just Rs.500 for students). This introduced me to the world of internet through Unix. I again did a course in VISUAL BASIC, POWER BUILDER and ORACLE. My parents bought me a computer during my final year (DCT) to help me do my project work. Visual Basic easily became my favorite,  whether it is System tools, Screen savers or My personal Diary, everything was programmed in VB. Then came the big one (My Final Year Project) - A software for my college to manage Staff, Students & Library details (All integrated into one application as different modules). It came out to be a good one, and helped me score a good percentage in my DCT.

        At present .....

After finishing my Diploma, I joined a B.Tech (Information Technology) course in St. Joseph's College of Engineering, Chennai. At present I'm in my third year of my course. Nowadays computers can do virtually anything, it can me a Music & Video System, it can be an gamming station, it can be a programming tool, it can even be a means of communication through internet. I have a system that does all these and more. Something made me gain interest  in Graphics, may be because a good visual impact on the user can patch up the inefficiencies in programming. The latest buzz word is e-commerce, and so I'm doing a course on e-com which includes HTML, ASP, Java, Scripts, WAP etc. Well, by the time I finish my Bachelor's degree I hope to find a good job. That is all about my education.
