Dear Students and Parents,
On this page, you will find weekly homework assignments,
assigned tests, and vocabulary for each grade level. In addition, you will
find links to art web sites which have information and/or cool effects.
Make sure to check them out. I will be updating this page by Sunday of each
week. Parent's choice means the parent selects
an object for their student to draw while Choice
means that the student selects an object. The key to
improving artistic abilities is PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.
Homework should be done in a quiet setting where concentration is on
observing the object. Drawings on the school bus, during another class or
homeroom are not good settings to work while trying to improve artistic
abilities. If you have any questions, you can e-mail by hitting the above
link. I check my e-mail several times a day and will answer within 24
hours.
Please note: All assigned homework is
required. If you are absent, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASSIGNMENTS. Late
homework will be accepted and graded ONLY IF YOU ARE ABSENT. If you are
absent, you have THREE DAYS TO MAKE UP MISSED ASSIGNMENTS. If you have any
questions, please see Mrs. Westmoreland. Leaving your work at home or in
the locker is not an acceptable excuse for no homework. IT IS YOUR
RESPONSIBILITY.
REMEMBER: IF YOU FORGET WHAT
YOUR ASSIGNMENT IS FOR A PARTICULAR NIGHT, DO THURSDAY WHICH IS ALWAYS
CHOICE. I WILL SWITCH NIGHTS FOR YOU BUT WILL NOT ACCEPT LATE HOMEWORK
UNLESS YOU ARE ABSENT.

HELPFUL HOMEWORK HINTS AND REMINDERS:
Keep
all homework in chronological order.
PUT THE ASSIGNMENT DATE ON EACH DRAWING and
your ARTIST SIGNATURE. (This will help if there is a question about your
grade. NO DATE on a drawing means no grade change!!!!
You draw one assignment on a page, drawing
large so your drawing fills at least half the sketchbook page.
Only
pencil drawings or sketches. The purpose of these assignments is to help
you learn how to look and see what you are drawing. Use color only when
assigned a colored drawing.
USE THE ENTIRE 15 MINUTES TO REALLY FOCUS
ON YOUR DRAWING. I really can tell when you spend 2-5 minutes instead of
the full 15 minutes and SO CAN YOU!!!
You should use a minimum of 15 minutes EACH NIGHT TO COMPLETE
YOUR HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT. When you are assigned a particular object, it is
important to have that object IN FRONT OF YOU SO YOU CAN LOOK AT IT WHILE
YOU ARE DRAWING. REMEMBER ART TAKES TIME AND PRACTICE.
