Portsmouth Network

for families with children aged 0-14 years

Network News

The Portsmouth Early Years and Childcare Partnership Conference was held on Thursday May 2nd at the Marriott Hotel, Portsmouth. Over 140 delegates from local and national organisations attended the day. Delegates included professionals and local parents who spoke of their experiences of working with agencies from the Partnership.

****************************************

New networks have started at various venues across the city. These venues include The Lodge at Portsea Community Day Nursery, and Charles Dickens Infants and Junior Schools. Look out for information on school newsletters or flyers from the network.

***************************************

In the early hours of 2nd June 2002, the Portacabin at Landport was damaged by fire. This has meant the loss of the shed which contained arts and crafts materials, outside toys, a climbing frame and many other items. The Portacabin itself has sustained considerable damage and the larger room is out of use for the forseeable future. Courses will continue to run as planned with creches being run at Landport Community Centre. Groups will run where possible, either in the Conference Room at Arundel Court Infant School, or other venues. Please call for details.
Breakfast Club will continue to run in the Portacabin.
After School Club will operate from the school and the Portacabin.
Holiday Playscheme for the summer holidays will also still run.
Please book your place for playscheme early as spaces are taken up quickly.

Portacabin staff, volunteers and families would like to thank Mr Smith and Mrs Baldry (Arundel Court Infant School), Terry Painter (Landport Community Centre), Father Adam Dickens (St Faiths Church), ASDA (Fratton), Mr Shep Woolley and everyone else for their kind and generous support since the fire.
