After School Clubs

Various activities (arts and crafts, music, gardening,cookery, sports, outside play) are usually available, as well as a snack and or drink for your child. Times and prices vary, some clubs pick up from other school, please contact a particular venue for more details.

Courses - various courses are available throughout the network - from First Aid to Cookery, from Flower Arranging to NVQ'S, from Family Literacy to Counselling, Factor 85% Parenting Course to European Computer Driving Licence (IT Qualification).

Drop-in Groups

Do just that! Drop in if you're passing, with or without your kids. Have a cup of coffee and a chat with us! At most venues - have a look at our at-a-glance guide for days and times.

Kids Clubs

The Brook Club Youth Centre: has the following clubs for various ages - Junior Club - Tuesday (young women) and Thursday (young men) 5pm - 6.30pm, and Senior Club Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 7pm - 9.30pm. Sex Sense Wednesday 3pm - 5pm, Young Peoples group Wednesday 5pm - 7pm.

Mums and Babies Groups

Groups for you mums who have children aged 18 months or under, or if you are expecting. Less hectic than parent and toddlers, but sometimes a bit noisier. A Health Visitor calls in at most groups twice a month. Minimal charge (50p - 75p per family for tea, coffee, juice etc).

Parent and Toddlers:

Parents and children aged 0-4 welcome at all our groups, and if you are an aunt, grandparent, single dad - in fact anyone who cares for a school age child then come along and make new friends! Various activities at each group. Activities for children include painting, gluing, playdough, library van, outside play and more! Come and have a cuppa with us and meet new friends! Also visits from Trading Standards, Homestart, and baby care advisers from Boots the chemist and that's just for starters! We can approach any agency to ask them to come in to give a short talk to mums and dads or offer advice. Trips out at Christmas and during the summer holidays. Outside play available at some venuesduring good weather. Refreshments available. Run by volunteers. Minimal charge (50p - 75p per family for tea, coffee, juice etc). Support Groups

Breastfeeding Support

A new group for mums who are in need of support with Breastfeeding. Run by  Health Visitors, come and meet other mums in the same boat, help each other. Currently available at The Allsorts Centre Somers Town, and The Corner House, Paulsgrove. Please contact venues for days, times etc.

VOICES Support Group

Support groups for parents, run by trained volunteers. Children cared for in free crèche. Have a look on our Links page to find out more or contact Paula Martin, VOICES Co-ordinator on 023 9267 8893 for more details, and for information on VOICES groups across the city.



Swimming

Come along on your own or with your children. The group go to Victoria Baths swimming pool, the cost is £2.10 for adults or £1.05 if you hold a Portsmouth Leisure Card.

Meet at Victoria Baths about 9.30am - Friday mornings



Toddling Tweenies

A group that is specifically aimed at children aged between 18 months and 2 1/2 years and their parents/carers. Lots of activities, we can show you how to make playdough, ideas for messy play and not so messy play and lots more! Minimal charge (50p - 75p per family for tea, coffee, juice etc)

Toy Libraries

Branches of Connors Toy Library  run throughout the network and other branches are available at other venues right across the city. You can borrow a toy for FREE for a week. Child Minders Group
A group for child minders and their minded children.
Northern Parade Infant School - Thursday mornings

Family Friendly Zone
A group for mums, dads and children, fun and time to talk, plus some short courses. Run by Kathy from The Willows, Battenburg Clinic.
Portsdown Primary School - Monday mornings - term time only

Music is Fun
Introduce your child to the joys of music, learning for you and your child.

Parent and Child Special Educational Needs Group.
Please contact the Head Teacher on 023 9266 2596 for more details on this group which is run in conjunction with The Willows.

Post Natal Depression Group
Run by Health Visitors from Somers Town Health Centre at The Allsorts Centre, Somers Park Primary School. Contact Somers Town Health Centre on 023 9282 1816 - ask for the Health Visitors
