(defunct)Slingerland was a part of the original class of Porkslab Records. As far as is known, they were a "party band," playing their beer-soaked brand of punk/emo at basement parties and kegers. They never released any material, and I don't think they were ever really a part of the Porkslab community (I've met all of the members, but Gip's the only one I would say I actually know at all). Still, an early history of Porkslab would be incomplete without mentioning these cats, I suppose. Slingerland has since called it quits, and have been ressurected as Great Argus, which is apparently some kind of jam band or something. All of the members (Ian is gone, they've since added some other kids) list Phish as a main influence...Yikes. Meh.
