File Under: Pop music with experimental leanings.
Paperback Throne basically started as an outlet for the songs Chris wrote that didn't really fit into his other bands' styles. As time went on, however, the Throne grew to be his main focus. His interests lie in crafting pop compositions that aim to find a balance between experimentation and accessibility, attempting to combine a wide range of influences into cohesive statements. The debut LP, an extremely lo-fi collection entitled "Hello Control," was released in June 2002. The follow-up, "Fold/Explode," was released in April 2004. He has begun writing in earnest for the huge, stupidly ambitious follow-up, titled "Rosemary, Rose Marie", which will put his previous output to shame. In addition to the work he does under this and his numerous other Porkslab monikers, Chris is currently working on a large number of projects, including a film soundtrack, an album of experimental instrumentals, and full-length collaborative LPs with For a Martyr and a Girl and Lee Stefanos of Somerset. He is also currently a multi-intstrumentalist in Brown Party, drummer for Beef & Nougat, and is determined to, at some point, write and record an album entitled "Paperback Throne in 'The Curious Case of Celia's Face'".
