After the nation as a whole decided to boycott the World Cup after the
recent debacle of favouritism and biased refereeing the city of Loyalty
Bay, and specifically the Pleasantview Ravens organization has decided to
ignore that ban and sign up, on their own, for the Under 21 World Cup, on
behalf of the nation.
Though this tournament is not the World Cup, it still carries the name and is bound to draw the wrath of the governing body of football in the nation. _______________________________________ '...we are not participating in the World Cup, we are participating in the Under 21 World Cup, there is a difference.' -spokesperson for the Pleasantview Ravens Football Club. ________________________________________ Meanwhile, as word of the decision by the Ravens organization to ignore the boycott spread, residents of the Loyalty Bay neighbourhood of Pleasantview came out into the streets in a spontaneous celebration. It is however feared that fans of other clubs in the city may take exception to the Ravens representing the nation at this tournament and so riot police are already monitoring the situation on the streets of the neighbourhood. Interestingly enough however, most fans of the North Beach Sharks, the chief rival of the Ravens, seemed unconcerned by the turn of events. Stated one fan, 'once they witness the biased nature of the so called 'world class' referees that we encountered in World Cup 24, they will fully understand and respect the boycott from now on. Representatives from the governing body of football could not be reached for comment though a spokesperson for the Pleasantview Ravens Football Club did note that, '...we are not participating in the World Cup, we are participating in the Under 21 World Cup, there is a difference'. |
The Under-21 squad of the Pleasantview Ravens has announced their intention to participate in the Under 21 World Cup of soccer. |
