Things You Can Do:

  • Use non-toxic cleaning supplies
  • Take hazardous waste to collection centers. NEVER pour toxic chemicals down the drain or on the ground.
  • Compost.
  • Don't over fertilize your lawn and garden.
  • Use low-flow faucets and shower heads.
  • Repair leaks.
  • Walk, ride a bike, or carpool when necessary.
  • Clean up after your pets.

 

 

How much water does the average person use?

  • In the home, each person uses about 70 gallons of water a day.
  • It takes three gallons to flush a toilet.
  • It takes 15 to 30 gallons to take a bath.
  • It takes five gallons for a one-minute shower.
  • It takes ten gallons to wash dishes.
