The lonely, young frog hopped along as all lonely young frogs do. His mother had croaked, no pun intended, and the rest of his hopping family had gone their seperate ways and left him behind. But worry not, this story doesn't have the type of ending to make you weep tears of pain and lost hope. If any tears are to be shed by this story, they are the tears of laughter, joy, and happiness; unquestionably the best tears of all.

The frog, let's call him Bob for sake of simplicity and everything related, didn't spend much time as an orphan. He found another family. However, his new family was not as amphibious as his natural one.

The family he found was that of the fur-bearing kind. Not a dogs life nor a rat's tale, but a cat family. Let's just call them the Smith's, a great name for a cat family, right? Right? Anyway, the frog, Bob, found his way into the family through the kittens.

This is where a little back story comes in. The Smiths consisted of a momma cat, a daddy cat, and four kittens; four kittens minus the one that ran away the night before Bob the frog showed up. The kitten was adopted by a family, but that's another story for another time.

Back to business; Bob stumbled onto these kittens. He was scared at first, as all frogs are, but he fit in just as well as a sugar covered candybar fits in the health food asile.

"What are you?" one of the kittens asked.

"Are you an alien?" another asked.

"No, I'm not an alien." Bob answered. "I'm a frog."

"A..." the third kitten paused.

"Frog?" the first one asked.

"What's a frog?" The second one asked.

"I am." Bob said. "I'm a frog."

"But, what are you?" the third one asked.

"I'm a frog," Bob said. "What are you?"

"We're cats," The first one said. "Kittens, actually. But we will become cats, when we get older."

"What's a cat?" Bob asked. "How can you become a cat if you were a kitten?"

"I don't know," the second one said. "That's what momma said."

"Well," Bob said. "I used to be a tadpole and now I am a frog so I guess you can become a something else."

All three of the kittens looked at each other and then at Bob.

"A tadpole?" they chimed in together. The kittens shared a laugh, a laugh so infectious the frog named Bob had to join in. They played and rolled and hopped and made noises.

"Time to eat." The mother cat said when she came back, she laid on her side to give the kittens better access.

"Yay," the kittens chimed in again. They crowded their mother and ate, but Bob sat all alone.

"Get over here 'n eat!" The mother cat shouted at Bob.

"But I'm not a--"

"I said eat!" she said, cutting him off before he could say anything.

Bob didn't want to argue, he was so scared he wet himself. But all was better when he hopped over to his new brothers and sister to eat. The milk was good, Bob liked milk.

When the poppa cat came home and saw the frog playing with his kittens, he was confused.

"What the hell's that?" The poppa cat questioned the momma.

"It's one of my babies." She answered. "And don't you say a thing. We lost our boy but he came home and he's going to stay. Don't you go running him off."

"But, that's not a kitt---"

"Not a word!"

In time, the frog named Bob truly became part of the family. Instead of croaking, he learned to meow. He taught his brothers and sister to hop, they taught him to run and hunt without his tongue.

They became a happy family, Bob and the Smiths. Until they came across the lost puppy.
