Sven didn't have a very strong heart. For a little boy, he had a very very weak heart. His parents made him take so many nasty little pills, and he understood why, but sometimes he just wanted to be a normal boy. He thought that would be just fine.

The pills and other meds made him feel so sick. Sometimes he wondered why he should even take the nasty stuff, even though he knew he wouldn't be alive without them. But was life worth living if it was always going to be this hard? He was still a young boy afterall. For him, a single day meant a lifetime. So every day that he hurt seemed far too long. It took him a long time to work up the courage to skip on his medicine, if only for a day, but when he did he took full advantage of it. He played with his friends the way he wanted to. He did what he wanted to. He felt great. He even found a kitten and hid it downstairs so his mommy wouldn't find. She was allergic.

Sven just couldn't understand why he had been taking that stuff for so long. It was obvious he was better off without it. He had no head aches. No stomach aches. No aches or pains anywhere. He felt like a normal boy, and that was just fine.

Until it started.

See, another thing Sven did on his Big Good Day was watch a very bad, scary movie. It scared him half to death (almost literally). He didn't know how close he had come, but he was too happy to care. He was getting to live for the first time in his life. How could anything be wrong when he felt so good? He figured, if anything was wrong he would hurt.

And he felt just fine.

And Sven kept feeling that way until he was tucked into bed and half asleep. He started hearing things. They were little things, but things all the same. He kept thinking about that scary movie he watched, the one with the little aliens that crawled down your throat, laid eggs, and the babies hatched. The babies ate the insides of your stomach until they were big enough to chew their way out.

Sven was, afterall, still a little boy. What did he know about the line between reality and entertainment? He wasn't supposed to watch the movie, he found it in his big brother's collection and watched it while everyone thought he was fast asleep in bed.

And now, now young Sven was terrified. Afterall, the things were coming to get him. He deserved it, didn't he? He was such a bad boy, skipping his meds like that. He prayed to God then, promised he would never skip another pill for the rest of his life no matter how awful it tasted or how it made him feel. Just please oh please don't let those things crawl down my throat, that's all he wanted.

When he heard the scratching on the door, it was just too much for young Sven's heart. He died of fright right then and there. The cute little kitten nudged her way into the half closed door and crawled on top of the little boy with the weak heart.

It was a good thing his parents found him when they did though, because the kitten was awful hungry and just beginning to nibble on Sven's ear. The image was so frightening, well, that's a story for another time.
