Numb Me Not

It envelopes me
Like a black, thick
Blanket
Heating and blazing
My skin
From inside out.

Threatens to hurl
Every secret, every thought
In it's truest form
Uttered through my lips

I sigh
Wriggle and writhe unbearably
Not wanting to give away
Everything that makes me
Me.

It's such a fight
Such a passionate duel
Between my conscience
And this dark, mysterious, form
Shapeless, but eternally solid
Angelic, but so bitterly dangerous.

Yet, amazingly unidentifiable.

I understand what I'm fighting
But I don't know what it is
Or what compels me
To give my all
In this mind-numbing
Battle.

Note: I'm not too keen on this poem, it's the typical group of paradoxes, the typical nameless enemy. I think every poet must have written something like this one time or another.
