Little Boy

Staring at him, I shake my head
Disappointed, I walk away

I thought that I knew him once
I thought that he once smiled
I thought him wise and all
But he's just another child

I thought he could speak up but
He just shrugged it all away

I thought he could reason but
He didn't want to hear

I thought he could think but
He said thoughtless words

He kept spewing certain things
Hoping that I'll still listen to him
He kept on telling me the things that
He told me yesterday.

So I just kept on walking
Sad; in disbelief
Wondering how well was I deceived
Thankful I woke up after long

Because I thought he was a man but
He was just a little boy

He could be my friend but
Only that and nothing more.

Note: I wrote this after an agonizing chat with the former muse. If this poem seems to have a rhythm, it was probably because at the time I wrote this, Fiona Apple's song, Paper Bag, was playing repeatedly (quoted two lines from the song even).
