He had no religious affiliation and was a lawyer in his professional life. He married Marry Todd when he was thirty-three on Nov. 4, 1842. He had four children with Mary and he outlived two of them dispite the fact he was assasinated. He wrote many things including his famous: "The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln (8 vols., 1953-55)", which was edited by Roy P. Basler. He was murdered ten years after writing these books on Apr. 15, 1865, in Washington, D.C. His death is perhaps one of the most famous in the last two thousand years. He is buried in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Springfield, Ill.
Perhaps his most famous acts as president were the "Emancipation Proclamation," this famous act freed the slaves all through the United States. Another act was his extremely legendary "Gettysburg Address" which memorialized the "Battle of Gettysburg." This address was in the form of poetry and used many symbols to portray what went on in the bloody battles at Gettysburg as well as what caused these battles.
