Planet X - Live @ Murder Burger - Davis, 7/18/99 Planet X performed an outdoor show at Murder Burger in Davis (Gig #9) with juli Swann today. We played for an hour and fifteen minutes and the show went exceedingly well. The crowd response was good, the owner of Murder Burger liked us, and we had a nice sound mix thanks to Nick from the group Dorian Grey (who also performed an acoustic set). Another new song was dubuted, "I'm not Going (Down Again)" - one which has an admittedly King's X-ish feel to it. We even had some fun with some of our other songs like "Pain" - chainging the opening lyric from "I feel the Pain" to "I need some Fries". The promoter of the show was there, and she liked us well enough to set us up with another gig with juli at Jonny Love's Cafe on August 28th. We played quite a while and still had some time to kill - so juli did another set of her acoustics songs, Ron borrowed her guitar and got up and did some Zeppelin and I even borrowed it to do one of my songs ("Taste of Greatness") from my old group Soul Machine.

Murder Burger is a pretty neat little place just across the tracks from Downtown Davis. It's definately the place to go if you like Hamburgers. They have all kinds. Soy, Ostrich, Mushroom - even Beef. (Wow, imagine that - "real" beef?) The have one burger called the "Aggie Annihilator", which is a full pound of beef (split into two patties). My Son Nathan, who can never have enough beef, especially in burger form - tackled that one. We almost had to roll him home afterward.

    On other news fronts...

    • The Players page has been updated with a full bio and groups shots. Behind (click on) the group and individual photos on the page and a series of live shots from the Murder Burger show can be found.
    • Planet X has submitted two songs (The Hero-Inn & Silent Rage) for "Sacramento Rocks VI" the next benefit CD from local radio station 98 Rock.
    • It appears that the rumors are indeed true and that after almost 15 years of Rock n' Roll Sacramento's "The Boardwalk" has switched to country music - so I don't think we'll be playing there again for awhile.
    • Our show at Lindee's has been cancelled and post-poned due to some crossed wiring - we'll post the new date once we have it.
    • Our next show is going to be at Cafe Paris in Mid-Town Sacramento, on Fri. August 6th with Proon - followed by a show at Club X-Treme on Friday, Aug 13th with Kattywompus and Sedona.

Until then, Cya and Keep rockin'.
