No grisly tale about Brigade life would be complete without a passing reference to the drum major losing control of his mace as the Chief Minister remarked on his well-pressed uniform. The band is an integral part of any Brigade company able to afford so, and for good reason. It puts a thousand ringgit firmly into each member's arms, trusts him to take good care of it, and allows him to harness the power of that thousand ringgit.
