"Look, then, into thine heart and write!"
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Voices of the Night
What do you secretly wish for?
I have been writing my entire life, yet I am only just beginning a writing
career. What to do with the rest of my too-short life? Write books.
I have written more than half of my first book. In addition, my first book
of poetry is coming together. I want my poems to be heard and felt. I want
a kiss to be so believable it gives the reader shivers. My sincere wish is
for my writing to inspire a gentle and loving re-mothering of the hidden places
deep inside that hurt.
Writers are the creators of new worlds. Life-givers. Words have the power
to stir emotions and inspire change in the world. Writers can impersonate,
maim, charm or embarrass.
I keep detailed journals filled with watercolours, written notes, reflections,
puns and poems. I like hardbound sewn journals. I marvel at well-worn diaries,
handwritten documents on parchment paper and old letters written in elegant
script.
Light a candle. Create a shrine and make a wish.
