And it's the stuff!
Yup, here's my true passion: writing Theatre of the Insane. I started this back at the
beginning of highschool. These are some of my more recent works. Enjoy the sick madness.
I have more things coming, but for right now enjoy these scripts. Oh, and by the way...
Remember that I DO have the copyrights to all this material. I'm not very worried - people rarely
try to steal in theatre (unlike movies), but just in case, remember that this is copyrighted
material. Thank you.
One Acts
The Whole Famn Damily
This first play is a very bizarre and absurd satire. Please take it as that - satire. And
realize that it's supposed to be absurd, therefore funny instead of stupid or worse, utterly
disturbing.
Gehenna
This play I just wrote very recently. It's a mildly surreal play about connection between
people in a world where fear is all too common.
In the Garden of Grandma Mary
This is a rather surreal and absurd play. I directed it for my Directing class last year, and it got a really good response. There's a lot to it, but a lot of it's about miscommunication and people only hearing what they want to hear, and making ridiculous excuses for their actions. That's a terrible explanations, but oh well, read it, I think it's funny. Hopefully, you will too.
Full Lengths
Semblable
This is one of my most "out there" full length comedies. It started out years ago as a one-act Absurdist comedy that I wrote in highschool, and over the years, as my writing has matured, I've picked it up again and again and re-written it several times. At first, it was just wacky fluff. Then, I tried adding meaning to it, which came off as pretentious. So then I tried an approach where the play parodied itself, but I still felt too didactic, this time from the opposite end of the spectrum. So finally, I have created a mishmash of worlds where a play has gone completely haywire from being revised too much, and the main character is now furious with the writer (me). I hope you enjoy it. It makes me laugh, but I'm pretty strange.
Acrobat
This is a work in progress I currently have, and I think it will be one of the best things I've written, when it's all said and done. It's a very serious story, and it deals a lot with relationships, both emotional and sexual, and how people can use them as weapons against one another, especially those who are running from something painfully emotional.
Musical Theatre
A Love Story
This is one script I am very pleased with. I've been working on the libretto (which is a
script for a musical, basically) and the music for well over a year now. I'm one of those
people who believes musical theatre can be art, and not just show bizzy, song-and-dance
spectacle. The way I've integrated the music into this script is very different. I have very
few of what you'd call "songs." The music is more like underscoring for a movie, and I interweave
music and spoken lines a lot. Characters usually sing when emotions rise or something needs
to be achieved outside the world of realism or the physical action of the scene. Just read it,
you'll see what I mean. Anything that's indented or looks versed is sung. Everything else is
spoken. As for the title, think of how the title makes you feel, then read the script, and
think about the title again, and what it truly means.
