It has also set the record for the fastest movie to reach the $500 million mark in just 20 days. AWE is the only the 15th movie to reach $500 million in overseas sales. AWE busted opening week records in 16 countries from Argentina to Iceland, to Russia, Malaysia and Taiwan, Disney said. It outpaced the previous world opening record of $382 million racked up by �Spider-Man 3� just four weeks ago - and the newest �Pirates� has yet to open in the world�s two most populous countries, China and India. Memorial Day Record, but No Box Office Pirates 3 set the Memorial weekend record with $142 million, however it did not gain enough to take the box office record, pulling in $126.5 million.
