Back
by Popular Demand . . . Tina & Lena
Saturday, February 2 at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center
In
November of 1996, Tina and Lena performed to a full house at the
center, thrilling the audience with their Scandinavian antics,
and it's time they're back.
Like
two favorite aunts arriving at church in their Sunday best, "Tina"
and "Lena" make their way through an audience shaking hands, waving
at acquaintances, picking lint off a lapel and chit chatting with
people along the aisles. But rather than launching into a hymn,
they break into a rousing version of "Walking in My Winter Underwear."
You
could say that Tina and Lena are throwbacks to another age -
a kinder, gentler age when neighbors knew their neighbors, when
the jokes were clean and clever, and ladies wore flowered hats,
white gloves and carried purses that matched their shoes.
Although
their values are firmly rooted in the past Tina and Lena are women
of the present, too. "We're bosom buddies, just like Thelma and
Louise," Tina whispers confidentially in her soft, Scandinavian
accent. "But we drive a Studebaker," Lena chimes in, "We donšt
have hot flashes, we have power surges."
So
just who are these classy, likable, entertaining ladies? They're
the alter egos, the performing personae, of Sue "Tina" Edwards
of Alexandria, Minn., and her long-time chum, Annette "Lena" Hustad
from nearby Glenwood. Both hail from musical, story-telling, joke-loving
families. During their high school years in Canby, Minn., they
sang in choir, played in the band, and performed in school plays
together.
For
an afternoon or evening of fun-filled, carefree laughter and humor
that will keep you in stitches, don't miss one of the engagements
of Tina and Lena at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center, February
2nd. The shows are at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and reserved tickets are
$12. Reserved tickets call the Meadowlark Shop Box Office, 825-2020
or 877 722-2787.
