Our heros started things out in the
great city of Althasar, in the realm of
Kendara. The city and nation were
raising and praising a new king who
had had more than his shares of
misadventures as a prince. This led
many thousands of new people to
flood the city looking either for
employment of excitment.
Our boys were no different it seems.
The core three Balak, Amir, and
Dexter all came together here and
feel in with a less than desireable
group of ruffians headed by Charl
Underfall, and a mysterious man
named Greeley. Althasar had been
Dexter’s boyhood home, and if he
was smart eough he would have
known that the city was rife with
trouble when the boys were there.
Kendara has been under the thumb
of it neighbor Alpatia for nigh on to
twenty years, and rumor had it that
the new king had many designs on
changing thatThose designs led to many factions
and undercurrents arising on both
sides of the fence, some wanting to
aid the new ruler others simply
wanting to gain some coin and
notaraity for being a part of his
demise. Greely and Charl
unfortunately for our heros fell into
the latter group the boys didnt realize
that until it was too late. They were
willing patsys to one of the most
heinous assasination attempts in
recorded history.
Luckily they were able to beat some
feet flash some coin and make tracks
for anywhere but there. Making
haste out of the city they headed
south for Alace. A few days south
they made camp and were then
confronted another party of wouldbe
hero’s who had answered Althasar’s
call for anyone willing to help find
those responsible for their kings
death. A skirmish followed and the
newcomers were quickly buryed in
the trees. The next day south of
town brought an unamed village that
was seemingly rent limb from limb,
with only one survivor. The Group
added him to their number, and
continued down to road to Alace.
They stayed in the great city only a
night before heading south again.
That led them to the little town of
Nachiman, which was experiencing
some odd weather patterns. They
found out that the problems
originated with the local wizard. He
had been so worried about the effects
again was having on him he set to
brewing an anti-alzheimers potion,
and in the middle of it one of the
chemical reactions caused him to go
quite nutty. That combinded with a
couple of nasty little imps made for
some trouble for the boys. They
were able to clean that mess up
nicely though, oddly enough all it
took was listening to Dexter. Hot on
the trail of the imps the fellas. Went
off through the woods and found
themselves in the midst of an odd hill
full of cat peopl. These cats were
scary cats man. They had a
problems of their own their leader
was being led by the imps. This led
to a series of humorous
misunderstandings through which
the leader tried to kill the boys.
Eventually the imps were sent
packing, six feet under that is, and
the fellas found out the kitty kats true
problems. The leader of the packs
daughter had been stolen from him
some weeks ago and possibly sold
into slavery in the great desert Ninva.
At about this time one of the scouts
the leader had sent forth returned
with news of the king’s daughter, she
was indeed in the Ninva desert at a
small oasis. The Desert Beetle Inn
one of the few places for a traveler to
rest in the Ninva was also were the
girl was being held. The heroes set
out immediately. Crossing over the
mountainous region of the Tower
Peaks they came upon the edge of
the great Ninva. They gathered their
strength and set out on their way.
Almost immediately they
encountered a Hatori a fearsome
crocodilian beast of the desert. It
was looking for a snack, but the boys
were no easy meat and due to
several crushing blows they felled the
great beast before it could escape
them. The rest of their trek through
the great desert was event free until
they came upon the Desert Beetle.
Immediately the heroes find that
Malloc the proprietor of the inn is an
unfriendly customer, but he can be
because he owns the only inn in the
middle of a desert. The boys
became even more suspicious when
they heard noises outside their rooms
at night. Waiting for the next night to
go investigating the boys found that
the stories they had heard about
monsters in the desert were true, and
they lived under the inn. After a
ferocious battle which resulted in
Amir becoming a little too attached to
fire for his own good the lads rushed
back to their rooms. They knew they
had to get out soon, so they made
their play for the King’s daughter.
Things were going great until a few
guards found them in the stables
which started another rumble and
another fire. While several of
Malloc’’s henchman attempted to
douse the fire the boys faced off with
Malloc himself a tough customer he
was but they cut him down took his
whip and left him to lay. They
thundered out of the burning yard and
kept the in at their back as they
galloped away.
The boys once again returned to the
Kat peoples as hero’s with the Kings
daughter in tow. The heroes were
pleased, but sick of dealing with
people who weren’t people. They
had heard rumors floating around a
while back about the mysterious
island which lay off the coast of the
continent, so they decided to go
exploring. The boys were lucky
enough to catch a ship heading for
the Island, not only that but they
found out that the island was being
populated by a group of religious
separatists. The boat the guys were
aboard happened to be carrying a
relic of some import to the religion
and the boys were hire on as guards.
Unfortunately others on the passage
wanted the sacred book for their own.
During the middle of a harpy attack
the divisive elements struck trying to
slay the captain and our heroes.
Luckily the boys stopped it, but they
had no way of stopping what was
coming up next. The villains aboard
their boat had signed a pact with the
murderous she-pirate Tileb the red,
and her coarsair was to dock with the
ship later in the evening so that an
exchange could be made with the
book.
The boys decided to make the
exchange due to the overwhelming
firepower of Tileb’s ship. So they
sadly resigned themselves to losing
the book, but little did they know they
had bigger problems ahead. A giant
squall blew in out of the night and
smashed their ship to bits. Only
thanks to Dexter were they able to
survive, him and his magical cloak
which allowed him to transform into a
manta ray. The Boys soon found
themselves on a deserted rocky isle.
One that was eerily similar to the
pirate hold described to them by their
captain, the hold of Belok the Bold a
sea pirate captain of some fifty years
earlier. He was noted for his success
and his brutality, but eventually the
nations put together such a naval
hunt as to drive him into hiding. On
the isle of Belok the fellas were faced
with many hardships. Belok’s ghost
and the undead forms of many of his
shipmen patrolled the cave of the
island. As Dexter found out first
hand the waters were shark infested.
The wreck of Belok’s ship contained
the lair of a deadly Sea Hag. Even
the small forested area of the isle
held a great danger in the intelligent
and deadly Brrr’Huuks. These
fearsome little six legged amphibians
caused some problems for the boys,
almost ending Amir’s life and scaring
poor Dexter half to death. The boys
survived it all only a little worse for
wear. And they came out of the
whole mess with a few notable Items
first was Ottriegar Salun the axe of
legend. Next was the Staff of the
Damned an evil staff which had
corrupted Belok and his men into
undeath, the boys knew that they
should destroy this item of evil, but
as yet have no way of doing so.
Another curious item that they
recovered was a small statuette
standing perhaps nine inches tall
made seemingly out of bronze. The
thing looks like a many horned
monster of some type, but the boys
kept it as a curiosity. Their stay on
the island was long and arduous, but
after a year or so they were rescued
by a ship on its way to the island
which they were originally trying to
reach.
Upon boarding the ship the heroes
found out that the island had been
dubbed Ophir and was a newly
formed nation. Upon arrival the boys
had to tend to one of their
sometimes comrades Gillead
Battlehammer, who had fallen into
the depths of insanity from his stay
on the island. For the services
rendered to them the boys were
asked to perform a small service to
the church. Slay the fire-breathing,
man-eating, petrifying
what-ever-the-hell-it-was that was
scaring the woodsmen out of the
woods. The group aquired a new
member for this task. Snake
Sanchez a greasy character at best.
But the lads did indeed find the lair
of the beast, which happened to be a
mated pair of madusa and maedar.
Snake was turned to stone in the
battle which saw more than one
fireball explode in it. Luckily the
remedy was nothing more than
dousing him in the blood of the
maedar. After that horrible
experience Snake found that he
owed something to the boys who had
saved him and decided to tag along
for the time being. Since this time
the fellas have take up residence at
the Bull and Bear the finest pub in all
of Ophir.
