Lore of the Land fun stuff, history, just like I like except I get to make it up.

Here's whats going down our hero's happened to step into a world with a long and varied history they however know none of this do to the fact that they are all fairly not smart, and some of this I am making up off the seat of my pants so they relly have no way to know better. Anywho this whole mess started about 5000 years ago when the world was very different from what it is today, people lived in peace and contentment war, hunger, strife, these things did not exisit. Until one day when this perfect world of Eisir was sent spinning on its head. A great meteor struck the planet and caused great changes to the landscape and to the peoples. After hundreds of years the dust settled and the cataclysmic upheaval was over, but under the dust many changes had taken place. The continents had changed so greatly that no one would recognized their current configuration. Also evil had been loosed on the world. Previously only inhabited by humans the planet now saw several demi-human species arise. Some good, some bad, dwarves, elves, halflings, and gnomes appeared, no one quite knew how these people had come to be the way they were but they had. Along with those mostly noble species others were formed goblins, orc's, ogres, giants, dark elves, as different from the others as could be. Still more mutations had appeared half man-half beasts out of nightmares, mundane creatures grown to humongous size with terrible new powers, and the most fearsome creatures of all, Dragons. Wether these things had come from the sky with the meteor, been freed from underground by its impact, or had simply evovled in the settling dust no one knows but now they are a part of the landscape the same as the good peoples of the world. More changes had been wrought but not everyone knew of them yet, one such as these was the introduction of arcane magic into the lands. Some sort of reaction from the meteor particles had created a new aura around the planet and those able to interact with it could use magic to do just about anything they set their minds too.

The races that sprung out from what had been men set to carving out their place in this hostile new land. This was know as the age of reconsolidation on both of the main continents settlements were established and alliances forged the races all worked together as they had in times past to try to hold off their new competitors. Things went well, although there were many problems. Evil forces were able to infiltrate the forces of good and undermine thier alliances the evil tribes of orcs, goblins, trolls, ogres, and giants, were nearly unstoppable in battle. Things were begining to look bleak for the forces of good, until the intervention of the gods. The good gods looked down from their places on high and saw that their creation Eisir was crumbling the gods of evil had awoken and were aiding their patrons on the fields of battle, it was time the good gods stood up and too part proclaiming the partial use of their powers to any who would follow after them and follow their decrees. Religious orders to this or that deity sprung up like weeds and divine magic was born clerics, paladins, rangers, druids, and adepts set out on a renewed crusade against the evil forces. Sometimes they were even aided by the gods further, with access to artifacts of wonderous power, or the visitation of the avatars. Unfortunately the gods intervention also had a negative effect on the planet the forces they used for battle were so great that they could have indeed destroyed even themselves so a pact was formed that the gods would not take direct action in the battles of the planet and only could aid their servants through spells and the like.

The godswar had almost destroyed the planet, but resolved nothing in the ways of the peoples and their battle against evil. Eventually after a thousand years the evil tribes and creatures were forced into hiding for the most part on both continents. The peoples of Amonkara however were more successfull in holding off the evils. At about the time of four thousand year ago all the peoples of Amonkara fell under the leadership of a single man the great warrior Tandrake Entur. He ruled his nation of Entur for his long years and his sons behind him also ruled well, Entur flowered under this peace and the contruction of great public works were began a series of canals were created so that ships could cross the continent easily through its giant lakes these canals exist to the present day and even preserve the name of that great nation as the river Entur. Unfortunately the evils were stiring again. After hundreds of years of peace and just before the completion of a great wall to seal out the evils forever they stuck back across the Great Divide from the wasteland they had been driven into. They struck back with such a ferocity that they felled the great kingdom of Entur and put an end to the peace in the west. This time there was no great leader to banish the evils, but they were contained and stopped short of domination. This was aproximately three thousand five hundred years ago. The forces of good and evil had fought to a stand still on the western continent and were almost of equal strength. They began to dig in and form new Nations. The old cities of Entur were leveled and their stones used to build new ones the great wall that was almost finished was torn completely asunder. The new nations contained the threats as best they could forging alliances to keep the hourdes at bay. Eventually these new nations too would fall. Leading up to the formation of the current political scene in the west. The landscape is dotted by many individual city states each a fortress onto its own. Fiercely indepentdant all are quite capable of hold out against their enemies, but none alone can banish the foes like in times of old. This would seem to be for the advantage of the evil forces, but their allegience had fallen apart and they splintered too into seperate tribes and bands wandering the lands searching out a living where they could. Here and there cooperation is not unheard of but mostly due to a stronger race subjugating a weaker or something similar to that. The city states themselves have aspects of that in their own makeup each is ruled by a council of elders elected from within. For the most part even though they are a minority dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings live and prosper in the cities of men. Most face little discrimintaion as most of animosity is save for other city states. While the states have not had outright wars against one another for several hundred years, they still bear a bad blood against one another. A most interesting development has occured recently. The burned lands, across the great divide once thought to be inhoshopitable and also once a place of imprisionment for the evil tribes have recently begun to be colonized in a joint venture of the States of Chiltan, Raga, and Somestan. Although they only serve as a prision for the law breakers of these lands it is still an interesting development.

Meanwhile in the eastern continent of Koth, things took a different path. Following what is considered the end of the godswar and the age of consolidation the peoples of Koth were still embroiled in the battles against evil. For another thousand years nations would rise and fall, battles be won and lost, alliances forged and broken until finally out of the westernmost portion of the eastern continent an alliance that could not be broken had formed The Elves of Odamalliar had seen that all this battling was bringing about nothing if they could not find it in themselves to join with the other free peoples to bring down evil together so they reached out to their neighbors on the hills. The Dwarven nation of Thrigdar. Thrigdar and Odamalliar soon became and unstoppable force for good. Elven arrows narrowed evils ranks even as the were smashed on the anvil of the dwarven axes and hammers. Dwarven seige machines rent row upon row of orcs and goblins, while elven magics felled hundreds of giants and trolls. Odamalliar and Thrigdar gained allies as they gained victories, but even as they were preparing to strike a decisive blow for good a second great cataclysm befell the Dwarven nation sinking its capital and most of its homelands below the surface of the Middle sea. Many of its people were able to escape to the city of Curag, which eventually became the capital of a new dwarven nation. The armies of the Dwarves rushed home to find their nation in ruins their families destroyed. Without the dwarves the human allies of Odamalliar fled in the night so that eventually the Odamalliar faced numbers to great to defeat alone. Knowing that they could have no victory they stood fast and fought alone falling back almost the length of the continent into the very walls of their capital city, where they held out for weeks in hopes of rescue from their allies, but the dwarves had been crushed by unforseen happenstance and their human allies were to concerned about their own well being. The elves fought valiantly, but they were defeated. From their great stand though they were able to so weaken the armies of evil so much that they were never able to reform in great numbers again. This was their victory. Since that time of unrest and battle the modern nations were formed. Curag the dwarven stronghold. Tireme the traders of the south. Fakran the monolith of the east. Alpatia the blade of the interior. Kendara the true. Alace the capital of freedom. Aleskra master traders in their own right. And now the new nation state of Ophir founded on the teachings and power of the god Terlik. The evil tribes are now scattered much as they are in the west, and on a whole present little trouble for the nations, except for occasional border raids and a few small towns burned. The real problem facing the nations of Koth is getting along amoungst themselves, for even as I write Kendara is under the thumb of its stronger neighbor Alpatia. Kendara's recently assassinated king was trying to bring about the end of this situation but before he could establish his power he met a grisly death. Others agitate for persuadeing Alpatia to end its tryanny on more diplomatic terms, but none seem truly willing to war against the Blade except for Fakran which has fought many wars against its western neighbor. Political turmoil is the order of the day in Koth.
