I start with an initial assessment. I will examine your history and ask about your personal goals.
This process will enable me to design a program to best suit your needs.
It is especially important to mention to me if you have had any injuries, car accidents, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions, such as a "frozen shoulder" or low back pain.
I am well versed in appropriate modifications for people with injuries or back pain.
My main focus is on safety and I pay particular attention to performing Pilates exercises in a safe and controlled fashion.
If you have a specific goal in mind (i.e. trimming inches off the tummy or improving the range of motion in your shoulder), private sessions are the way to go.
Private classes are one-on-one and can be taught on my top-of-the-line Peak Pilates equipment.
Each session is by appointment and is one full hour long.
I will guide you through a Pilates workout where I will assess your physical condition. You will continue to be guided, monitored and assessed on an individual basis.
Under my supervision, you perform some exercises on the mat and some on specially designed equipment.
I emphasize "core stabilization" which is essential in giving support to the joints and forms the basis of your strength as well as your back care.
As appropriate, I will work on strength, flexibility, posture, stamina, control and body awareness using a variety of imaginative and invigorating exercises that Pilates is famous for.
Pilates exercises are not limited to specialized machines, however.
The mat exercises taught there also focus on the stabilization and strengthening of the back and abdominal muscles, but without the apparatuses.
Pilates utilizes the natural resistance of the body as well as the Magic Circle, the Fitness Ball and the Exercise Bands to center the work of the "powerhouse".
Inner thighs and the gluteal muscles are especially worked in these mat classes.
Just like when you are learning a new language, the best method is to be exposed to Pilates workout for long periods of time and as frequently as possible.
For that reason, I encourage that you do Pilates on a regular basis, as clients who do it most frequently notice the results the fastest.
I recommend doing Pilates two to three times a week to derive as much benefit as possible from this training.
At the same time, I recognize that your life is busy and that a one session a week is better than none.
I believe that Pilates should be challenging but fun and spiritually invigorating for all clients.
I am truly lucky to offer my skills, knowledge and expertise to my clients during Pilates private, semi-private and group classes in English and in French.
I have been complimented on my flow, personal connection with the clients.
Clients have enjoyed the way I tie in my deep knowledge of Pilates with the information acquired through my own experience and my anatomy lectures.
I am highly committed to my clients and work hard to accommodate their schedules and their busy lives.
